The price point will be very interesting. The Tacomas are priced similarly, but I don't think the Sport Tacoma comes with the extra goodies. I have a feeling this will meet between the Pro and TRD Offroad. If it priced at the Offroad package, it will garner some interest from me.

forum discount to remove $$$$ out of the $$$$$ ? ;) They are very tempting...I'm sure it won't be an easy swap, with missing relays, wiring, etc similar to adding platinum lights to lower trim levels now

Just finished watching the TFL Sequoia and Tundra videos. They both talk lightly about a complete re-wiring of the vehicles. So if retro-fitting your current headlights with the 2018, like I thought of, you may run into an electrical connection/powering problem. But asking @Roman when electrical schematics are available may solve this MAJOR question.

I'm willing to bet the complete re-wiring they speak of is the added safety features. I'm hoping the headlights connections are going to be the same

I like those headlights, luckily they will be swap able with current models, lets wait to see the output to see how they perform I bet not good enough to outperform projector headlights :( 6c6063c7c42bb6ef05ba9d7fa94a9f24_84fe08f2e61497d6b435e1d18fea37c0d0336041.jpg

I was thinking maybe they would of dropped in the 8spd at least to hold over until 2020 I hear is the official redesign. Judging from the 3rd gen taco though I bet 2020 tundra will ride on the same platform it does now with various changes. Toyota doesn't seem to like to take on design change gambles but ride on proven older tech. This isn't a bad thing necessary and they do a great job at creating vehicles that hold together well, my 5yr 66k mile Tacoma seems as tight and quiet as the day I bought it. In contrast my 22k 2014 Silverado has some squeaks and rattles already, my wife who is the yota girl says it "rides old" and its a newer platform then the tundra. Guess the grass isn't always greener..?

The sequoia is one of the ugliest looking SUV's. The front end is disgusting.

You have to look at today's engineering to understand what I'm talking about. Cafe on the heels of truck makers of you don't know what that is look it before saying anything.

Only thing I see Toyota doing anymore is keeping from retooling there plants and suppliers happy. Mind you ,you need history here but GM did the exact same thing years ago look where it got them down the toilet.

To today's engineering stand point it's out of date powerplant also out of date transmission in the tundra. Tacoma is the test bed for the next gen tundra using a v8 atkinson powerplant. If you want to get technical the gearbox needs to be changed to more of a f-1 style gearbox. That same gearbox has been used in Volvo's truck class 8 trucks for years similar to GM's Allison transmission which is not a bad transmission mind you. Trust me Toyota's transmission are OK but not great..

Lol its the same as the 2nd gen tundras. But I agree, not a flattering front end for an SUV especially for the price they are asking on some of the models.

I've seen a few Sequoias with the front end conversions and they look pretty BA

I'm pretty sure anyone into vehicles understands Café and the regulations they are straining the manufacturers to meet. I agree with you on Gm doing it as well, I have an 88 s10 and an 03 s10 in my driveway..frame under them is identical. Its hard to stay on top as a manufacturer and stay profitable, you start looking for places to shave costs. Like you said holding off on retooling factories is one way.

As for Tundra with Atkinson v8, trans will be a key point. I know many people unhappy with the performance of there 3rd gen tacos. The current Tundra is so responsive it would be tough to offer something that doesn't live up to the previous generation.

This is the way Toyota should had to go, unfortunately not the case :( I never liked this look in the old Tundra And never considered owning one due to the ugly look (sorry 2nd gen owners) I was happy with my Tacoma until the new Tundra look came in 2014.

I don't see any of the changes to the grill, hood scoop or headlamps as enough for me to make any changes to what I have now. I like the Pro grill more, not really impressed with the hood scoop and already retro'd my headlamps with RX350 projectors. Maybe, once I've seen the changes in person I'll feel differently. But for now, I'm happy with what I have already.

    Nada yet.
Same here, though some of the updates would be nice. Not enough to make me regret going with a 17.

Sport tuned bilsteins, front and rear trd rollbars and theToyota’s Safety Sense P (TSS-P) suite of driver-assistance features (pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and adaptive cruise control) and an upgraded multi-information display will be standard on all Tundra models.

"Styling Updates", YAWN. I have been needing an upgrade for a couple years now as my '07 is getting long in the tooth. There are two reasons I have held off on purchasing. 1) The rumors of a "major remodel" for the MY2020 Tundra, and 2) The 2018 F150. Don't get me wrong, I am a Toyota fanboy through and through, but I am picturing 2019 when the "all new" tundra is unveiled and immediately heading down to the Ford dealership.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm okay with just styling updates. They way I figure it, Toyota must be doing something right if their outdated powertrains are still on the road today providing their owners many miles are reliable driving. If I needed anything more out of my Tundra, I'd get a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. Sure, other manufacturers have all kinds of new technology, but I personally don't need those things; it is a truck after all. And I don't need small gears or turbo V-6s to provide better fuel economy, again, it is a truck, I didn't buy it for its fuel efficiency. IMO, other manufacturers can keep all their tech gizmos, aluminum bodies, 10 speed transmissions, and steering knobs to help the incompetents back up a trailer. I just want a reliable truck that does what I ask, every time I ask. Again, this is just my opinion.

When I bought my first Tundra in 2015 I did some researching and reading of different forums. When I hit the Tundra forums and realized the biggest problem areas were lighting and audio, that sold me. Some of those other forums scared the shit out of me.
