What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

got her cleaned up a bit this weekend since the weather was nice. even caught a kinda nice sun rise on my way in this morning.

 

Around Travelers Rest, there is Jocassee, Keeowee and Hartwell within a 20 minute drive and if you are set on WNC, Lake James in is the Marion/Nebo area. That is where we take our boat.

 

I'll check them out.

 

yeah I probably wouldn’t purchase again....it did make the truck look good and actually works really well on glass....but that’s and expensive glass treatment lol. I don’t see how I can clean the truck with this stuff without washing it but the ads say “never wash your car again” just took the boat to the lake and don’t see how bugs are just going to wipe off....we’ll see I guess.

 

I hear ya. That's why I call it a "Dry Wash" lol. You don't have to wash it. Just spray it on and wipe it off.

I installed the TRD dual exhaust on Saturday. I think it sounds fantastic. A subtle rumble on start up and at low speeds but really lets the big V8 sing under hard acceleration. I admired the workmanship and finish. Installation was very straight forward and the included instructions made it easy. I took off the spare and that made installing the driver side pipe simple. ~3 hours including frequent coffee breaks.

Did you just paint right over the black? Any prep work or just straight to the spray paint? What kind of paint?

 

I ordered from Clazzios.com - I'll grab some more pictures if I can later today but they're all over the site in the interim. I went black leather with the red stitching simply due to lead time. Anything that's not on their front page as a 'pre-made' is about 2-3 months out. I REALLY wanted the dark gray inserts to go with my MGM Tundra. These were delivered within 3 or 4 days I believe. Couple pointers: remove the rear seats. It's 9000X easier. Set the expectation that these are seat covers. It's not going to be perfect. I had to take my OCD and leave it inside the house. There's one thing that drives me crazy. When you lift your back seat up in the crew max (the 60) side, and then you put the seat back down......you have to re-tuck a little tiny bit of the seat cover back into the seat belt void there. Also the arm rest in the rear looks a little bunched up when in the up position. I live in Phoenix, so I had to make sure to get my tint done first because they will get HOT. Thanks for the compliment. I literally just did the install if you have any questions during yours....I'm a PM away.

 

I can only comment on the comparison between the OEM and the TRD. I liked the looks and the sound of videos that I had heard and read about. Plus, the plug'n play ease of install. For reference, I had a '02 Tundra previously and installed a Flowmaster cat back system. It was over the top loud and caused a tooth rattling drone when the truck was under load whenever I climbed into the mountain passes. I had to have a resonator installed between the muffler and cat. to calm the system. That made it better and easier to live with. By comparison, the TRD sounds awesome when you step on it, but only a mild rumble around town and at cruising speed.

Thanks! My neighbor has the TRD as well and it sounds great. From the clips I've seen the Rough Country sounds the same and is half the price. Plus it allows you to go straight back or out to the sides.

Throttle body coolant bypass on my 4.6 today, took 10 minutes and was free so why not.

 

Finally installed my climate control knobs and dipped the chrome rings along with the 4x4 switch ring. Also dipped the silver portion of the shift surround from the Platinum piece I got.






Does anyone know what this blank is? I thought I've seen it being the glass break sensor, but I just have the blank cover on the front and never realized there was an actual plug to it. Judging by the behavior of my remote start setting the alarm off when it gets to the 15 minutes I'd guess it is the glass break, but I was never able to find anywhere in my documentation that the truck has it.



Almost done with the interior, think I'm going to order the SR black handles (I've wanted this since I got the truck!), the 4 runner Pro steering wheel trim, and the AJT wheel emblem cover. I just hope the cover stays on if the bag were to go off.

 

That is the blank where the glass break sensor mic goes. It is prewired for the mic. There is also a plug taped up to the left of the steering wheel for the controller.

 

Gotcha, thanks! Makes you wonder how many options in our trucks are already pre-wired. I remember seeing a double cab rear slider window motor before.

 

I believe Toyota uses the same wiring harness on all trim levels on their Tundras. I've been able to add auto headlights to my SR5.

 

As mentioned, Travelers Rest but I would say all of upstate SC, above I 85. even northern GA, Taccoa, Clayton that is if you don't mind the banjo music...

 

So can I just buy the mic and plug and play as long as I’m running the Toyota alarm?
