35s on a 1st gen

Alright everybody, so I have been thinking about some future plans for my build, and need some help keeping these realistic and in perspective. Keep in mind that I don't mind cutting or buying some high quality wheel spacers for clearance.

1. If I had (roughly) 4.25" of lift up front and 2.5-3" in back, would I will be able to fit 315/75/16 tires?

2. With a tire size like that, I would plan on regearing and add a rear locker (I'm only a 2wd) what would be the best gear ratio for this application? Any suggestions in this area are much appreciated!

 

I don’t think so. Unless you want to really transform the truck, or maybe do a spacer lift, but if you plan to wheel it, I wouldn’t

I have long travel in front, so my true 33’s clear without a chop, but I rely on an ace alignment tech to push my caster all the way forward. I have Bora spacers to make the clearance in the back work, but am gonna have to add bedsides because moving the wheels out to clear made the tires stuff in the stock bedsides. Anyway, short answer: go ahead(!) because I’m excited to see you do it, but no, it’s not something many have done.

I skipped answering you on hearing because that’s well covered; a search for rehearing for 35’s will produce a lot of info. I’d suggest you not pre-but gears though, until you verify you can fit 35’s comfortably. Do you have a buddy with 35’s on a 6-lug wheel that will let you borrow to test fit, so you don’t lay out cash ‘til you work out the details?

 

Thanks! I just did 2.5" and surprisingly fit 33s with no trimming at all. But now that's done and been on for a couple weeks, I would like to go bigger. Im sure I could find someone close with a 35 I could test fit. I need to find some UCAs before I lift it again, so I will have to save for a while.

You need to go with 6 inch “race car dynamics” lift for that side tire with no rub. I had 3 inch sway a way coilovers and the tires rub on the frame. I have 315/75/16 hankook tires with no rub .i really like the RCD lift kit. Comes with all parts . Check it out. I got the kit without the Bilstein coilovers. I bought the icon coilovers that were made for this kit instead.

Looks good! What all did you trim and are you running any kind of wheel spacers to avoid frame rub?

 

Bro can you post a pic of the area you cut on the lower bumper and lower plastic? I’m cutting mines tomorrow because the 285/70R17 I just put on with 17x9.5 is rubbing... I even went back to a 265/70R17 and because of the 17x9 it still rubs ands it’s not even full lock... Looks to me like 1.5 - 2 inches should do it... Just the lower bumper and plastic guard under it..

I have a 02 Tundra 2WD and want to put a reat locker too. has anyone successfully done it yet? Also i Want to run 35’s, is it possible just with a leveling kit? i dont want to lift the truck up much
