Awesome work SpaceX and NASA! Domestic manned launch capabilities again can't be overstated.

Amazing to me that the first stage recovers itself like it does. Does the 2nd stage do the same thing or is it lost?

Maybe now we can start charging other foreign nationals less than what the ruskin's do. Good ol' Capitalism at work.

Learn more from them blowing up than not. If they didn't believe in rapid prototyping and letting them explode, it'd take them 20 years and they'd have nothing to show for it just like SLS

Like I said, if they figure out how to keep them from blowing up. I didnt say its a bad thing. Best way to figure out what works is to remember what didnt.
They wouldnt have gotten this far if people didnt have the balls to learn from failure.

I thought one of the most impressive parts of the whole launch was the split-screen of the astronauts headed to the space station, while the rocket that sent them up, was descending downward to the drone pad, and landing on it in the middle of the ocean....Very cool indeed!

Not taking anything away from their skill and knowledge but they really are along for the ride these days. Not like 50 years ago when Neil Armstrong had to take over landing of the Lunar Module and manually fly it to the surface with 1 sec of fuel left. I have no doubt these guys could do that either but with the stability of the computer systems they have now makes it far safer today. And both these guys have massive time in space already.

Not to hi-jack this thread ...
Anyone watch Netflix, the show called the 100. ? We need more of a presence in space, you never know what’s going to happen on earth that may drive us to be proactive as far as space goes. Carry on Tundralights.
    Be safe out there. :oldglory:

    This is huge.

I worked at SpaceX for quite a few years, including on first flight of F9. I never thought I would see this day. Also very happy about my stocks that I bought for $1:D

Just keep in mind...SpaceX and ULA have 60+ years of space flight do's and don't's to fall back on from NASA. What a lot of folks don't realize is how many civilian "3rd" parties have been involved and contracted to work with NASA since Mercury launches and even before that.

SpaceX is one of my company's clients. I did a couple spectrum analyzers for SpaceX a couple weeks ago. We have a large calibration contract with ULA too. Great to lose the Russians finally.....Should have never happened to begin with......:oldglory:

I'm actually quite happy with Elon Musk. I have a newfound respect for him. A modern day Robert Goddard.

Yes it was. I had my reasons for leaving but it was a very fun job and I learned a lot. I left shortly before Falcon Heavy launched.

If they were publicly traded, that would be awesome. Still a private company, but there are still ways to sell privately.

I understand reasons for leaving. But yeah, to be a part of that is really awesome. Glad you could see it come to fruition.
