Pedal Commander and error code P2121

I'm having a weird issue with my pedal commander in my 2018 Tundra. it has worked fine for about four months, and now I'm getting blinking dash lights, tow brake error message, and the P2121 code.

The P2121 code is an error with the accelerator pedal position sensor.

I have disconnected the battery and it clears the code and all the blinking dash lights. I have also removed the pedal commander and everything is fine. I re-install the pedal commander and then randomly I get the error again.

So, has anyone had issues with the pedal commander throwing a P2121 error code? Could I have a malfunctioning pedal commander?

i got the code P2122 Throttle/pedal postion sendor/switch "D" Circuit Low Input on my 2016 SR5, waiting to hear what PC says about it. It turns my traction off and check engine light comes on for me.

Get a Sprint Booster if Pedal Commander doesnt want to help you and you still want one. This is a known issue with the Pedal Commander. Check out this video:

Save some money and just use the tow/haul button.

 

Here is what I did, disconnected the PC, unpluged the battery cables for 10 mins to get rid of codes, and then re-installed it. just programmed it and no code is being shown. hope this helps.

 

Same exact conditions. Got stuck in limp mode 300 miles from home. Sent it to PC (still under warranty) and they said they reprogrammed it. Runs fine now for three months. Skeptical.

man this is not what I want to see. I have a 2018 just installed PC a month or two ago. Long trip coming up in August right in time for it to screw up. Maybe I should just take it out before going...?

 

Keep an eye on your warranty date.

 

I bought a scan tool to eliminate the codes if it does it again. This past winter, I got stuck in the woods in Northern California while steelhead fishing with the P2121 code and the five-hour journey home took almost nine hours in limp mode.

Lesson learned: Have a back-up plan.

 

that is awful. Fingers crossed no issue yet, I’ll keep running it until my trip but I will most likely disconnect just to be on the safe side. Will have wife and kids with me so that shit won’t fly.

 

If it does cause codes, remove it, disconnect your battery for 10 mins to reset the codes (don't reinstall the PC), and you're back on your way. Don't let a tiny issue like that cancel your trip. I have had my PC for 4 months now with NO issues at all.

Get a Signal Booster and trash the PC. PC is a copy of the Signal Booster and does too much other shit that just complicates things more than they need to be.
Im not sure if there is any merit to it but, I’ve read that people have better luck with the non-Bluetooth models of the PC if that’s worth anything.

 

I sent my PC unit in for diagnostics and they were very professional and courteous. I had the surge issue going on and it had a hard time connecting through BT when my phone had its WiFi enabled. Due to COVID-19 they took a while before allowing me to send it in but when I did they didn't take long getting it under the knife. Apparently there was a wire that had come loose (most likely from plugging and unplugging but I got this unit used so I don't know what was done to it before me).

Anyway I'm highly pleased with how they handled the whole thing.

 

I don’t think the PC is needed at all on the tundra. I traded in my 4 runner for a tundra and to my surprise they both used the same modem PC. Even in city 1 on the PC the throttle is FAR too touchy then if you go to Eco +4 which should be the next closest setting and it is super laggy. I took it out and am pretty happy with stock. I may keep it just for towing but will likely sell it here soon.

 

If you're lifted with big tires I could see it making more of a difference.

 

all i did was disconnect battery and made sure my key-fob was more than 30 feet away and re-installed the PC. Works like a dream now and have a ton of fun showing it off.

 

what ?!! ive been running mines for a year on my 16 SR5 and its been running great was this a defected PC ?

From my understanding Hypertech merely adjusts your speedo to show the correct speed you're going.

 

I just checked out their site. I stand corrected. The React model looks nice but $400???

 

If the various settings are good for the appropriate terrain I could see that being quite alluring for the offroad crowd. However most guys I know would say that all that comes with time and practice (knowing how to drive in mud, snow, on trails etc)
