    That's cool!!

Boo hiss. Oh well, guess we get to watch them try again on Saturday. I'd rather have them scrub a launch than rush it and screw something up.

I'm wondering how efficient the touchscreens are to control. I realize that they've done a TON of training with them, but I can hardly touch any icon accurately on my mounted phone while on a trail. I couldn't imagine how difficult it would be to do stuff on a touchscreen while you're riding a gigantic guided missile.

If the government stays involved, I don't think it will be so bad. There has always been commercial partners working with NASA. A company I used to work for, Oceaneering, made heat blankets, reactionless tools, vacuum proof containers. Their diving division also ran the neutral buoyancy lab, that was one of the coolest tours I've ever scored. NASA made very sure to limit the amount of commercial logos, Oceaneering was fortunate enough to be one of the only two (I was told) allowed. If it turns pure commercial, well I'm thinking NASCAR.

I get that, those are the manufacture logos, I would say they have full rights to brag they are up there. But there's going to come a time when someone, somewhere is going to start thinking about selling ad space in space.

That I don't doubt. But for now, even with the vehicle being commercial, the advertising was tasteful. Knowing only a little from an outside perspective, I don't think there's any way SpaceX could have had 100% ownership of the design and construction. They had to have several major subs, and many, many minor subs and vendors.

Like I said, if it turns purely commercial, I expect to see the astronauts saying the Coca Cola, STP, Google, Apple, Massengale Douche Chevrolet space capsule was strong today.

    Some stuff
i've had a few interactions with them over the years through the day job and a few other avenues. when i was a scuba instructor in southern california, i worked with a guy who had been a sat diver for them. learned a lot from him and heard some great stories.

some of the stuff they work on is pretty cool.

    Damn small world ain't it?
I worked in the Marine Services Division. I remember shortly after I started the Entertainment Division was building dinosaurs for universal Japan. I went there for some meet and greets. They asked me to tell them about submarines, I was like, f a submarine, I want to see the dinosaurs. Amusement park security is more than government security is what I learned. But the shop manager got me in about 8 at night. Way cool.

Diver story, I was in Singapore checking on some work for the RSN. I was in a pub waiting for some coworkers to come down for dinner. I had an Oceaneering shirt on and a bunch of divers came in that had just come back from offshore. Instant family and friends.

Lots of diver and ROV stories too. At the corporate level, they were a good and interesting company to work for.

For sure. It excites the little boy geek in me. I remember watching the 1st lunar landing on a black and white 19" zenith and being hooked ever since.

Weather looks like crap. No go right now, but they're hoping for a break in the weather closer to launch time

Screw the Russians for bending us over the past 11+ years. Seems like I heard the figure of $80 million per launch to get our guys and gals to the space station.

    No more boys!!!! :oldglory:
