Impact will do it everytime. I just picked up a DeWalt 1/2" impact gun to replace my 40+ year old pneumatic gun. It's kicked ass, but the time has come to step into the 21st century and ditch the air hose. The gun I picked up will do 1200 lb-ft of loosening torque.

 

I'm late to the party so I'll just throw a pic into the fold here and there. I've done a number of things thanks to the ideas shared on this forum.

Got some E-bay tubular running boards and applied some anti-skid tape to them.

 

I agree. It took maybe a half a second of impacting to bust my axle nut loose. The suspension nuts didn't stand a chance. I even pulled the crank bolt on one of my SHOs just to see if I could. Also used it to get the exhaust off. These things are worth every penny. The standard size one is great too, just to get shit snug so you can torque it down.

I have Milwaukee, but the dewalt is great too. A guy I work with has one. We use both with our slugbuster kits to knock holes in panels.

 

That tool makes tire removal/rotations a breeze. Before it was a chore with the lug wrench. Now, its sit on a stool and blast those lugs off NASCAR style!

Best place to buy the Impact Sockets is the big box Huskys. They break and you get new ones.

 

Yeah! We got good deals on ours! And that damn 35mm socket was $22 from vatozone!

A breaker bar did the trick for me.

 

you should see the stuff i have to torquing.. i have a 6 ft torque wrench sitting up in the rafters of the basement... for those big boi torques

 

Coulda used that while trying to torque my 2” ball to 250ft lbs.... ended up mounting the hitch, 1/2” breaker bar and then a 5ft section of emt conduit. Hope it’s tight enough!

 

I really like the idea, but IMHO there's too much going on in the bottom right corner. Maybe lose the SR5 V8 and just keep the TUNDRA.
Less is more.



Also, I'd love to try out one of those fancy $500 electric impacts, but my 14 year old ($80) HF Earthquake 1/2" impact is still going strong and has only met defeat one time. (That one time was a crank pulley on bmw e30. We ended up sticking a breaker bar on it and then starting the car to break the bolt free. #safetylast)
I'd rather put that same $500 towards a nicer compressor.
I do realize not everyone has a garage/shop. In those cases, an electric impact makes total sense.

 

I see where you're coming from. I'd love to have a nice compressor. But, I found a nice set with the impact, 2 batteries, a charger, and a case for $450. That's just a start. Once you buy once cry once, you have a whole variety of tools available. I have I think 12 Milwaukee tools sitting in my van, and most of them do things an air compressor can't do. Hell, I even got the stupid leaf blower.

 

I used a Large Pipe Wrench and a 1’ Cheater Pipe sleeved over the handle for leverage. GOOOOOAAAALLLLLL!!!!!

 

The stupid leaf blower is good for "ludicrous speed coal bed!" Great for burning down fires in a HURRY

In the off season when leaves are not prevalent.

 

Shitty thing is, I bought the small one, and a few weeks after that they released the bigger one. Mine does ok, but I'd like the beefy one.

 

I have the little baby 2’ long blower with the long flexible rubber tip. Works great for blowing out dust and grit off the engine before moving on to feather dusting!

 

Big and beefy is kinda like Brutus beef cake.

AT-205 Re-Seal to all of the rubber seals, gaskets and hoses around the doors and under the hood. I need to find a small pump spray bottle so I can treat what can't be treated by wiping it on with a cloth.
