LED reverse and cargo lights.

omg. Finally I can see backing out.

 

If you can see now, you would be really excited over mine lol. I have Vleds in mine at 850 lumens per bulb as well as their license plate reverse system at 1800 lumens.

 

I had some Sylvania ones that had like an orangey back ground around each led and a grey housing. Weird bulb shape. They sucked.

Finally bought some real nice led bulbs. I put one in the high mount stop light, 2 in the cargo lights, and 2 in the reverse lights.


My cheapo led strip under the tailgate also has reverse lights even though they aren't that bright. Every bit helps I guess.

I kinda wanna get a "lumen meter?" (Lux meter?) What ever the lumen tester is called, and just see what the actual real world output is.

Edit: it was these bulbs that sucked. Bought these to try them before I had joined the forum.

It was probably just the wrong application of them. Either way I was underwhelmed.

 

Nice. Get some similar red LEDs for the tali/brake lights. They will look great as well.

 

Link for leds you used that you like? Did it work plug and play style?

 

If your asking me, I have a mix of either Phillips or Sylvania from Amazon. No issues. Just get RED for tail/brakes, white will look more orange than red.
Think they are listed in my build but are prolly different for your 04 than my 07.

Whoa! Those make me feel like I’m back in Studio 54 with Donna Summers.

 

Each LED light strip was $5 per door. Hooked the wiring up to activate with the courtesy lights.

I went with this to match my dash blue LEDs, can adjust brightness and other stuff, steady or dance to the music too, they mount under dash and under seat towards rear for back seat effects.

I'd add interior LED's to the list of $10 mods.

 

I used t-clips that tap into the existing courtesy lights wires without cutting them. You can check my build page for pictures of the method. They are awesome and put the light right where its needed.

Looks like a decent product. This would give me another reason to pull my door panels off, and also tighten my window track bolts.

Curious on how you ran your wires into the door. Clean installs are for the win.

Just ordered some.

 

This does not require removing anything - I mean I didn't install them in the doors. The lights are about 1/2" by 6", flat. They come with sticky tape behind them and are placed under the dash, try them out in different locations to decide what's best - they spread light from where they are under dash to front of seat, only on the floor, not in your face, they idea is to place them where they are not seen.

The rear ones go underneath the rear portion of the front seat, same idea, hide them from direct view and they emit light downwards to flood the whole rear floorboard. Different colors and patterns. Tucked wires underneath console.

I just try stuff that's on Amazon's Prime, Best Idea they ever had on free to/fro shipping.

You would have to run the wires through the same tube the rest of the door wires go through for the lights in the door panels. Not hard at all just takes time. Make sure you buy the flexible strips so they round the speaker.

 

make sure it’s flexible led strips. Took off door panel and stuck them inside it, ran the wire through the tube and whala! Easy. I think I paid $8 on AliExpress or eBay.

 

Nice! Looks like you utilized the entire door length for maximum light. People appreciate this light when they ride with me. They notice it right away at night because most cars have never had them. Stoked for you.

 

It's a great idea and very useful. One of those things that makes you wonder why most cars don't have it. I did something similar in the bed, wired to the cargo light. Wiring was a bit more labor intensive but the clean install and lack of needing to wire a separate switch was worth it for me.

Helps me see a little better when loading/unloading bikes at night.

 

I've been thinking about this one. How'd you wire up to the cargo light? That was what I wanted to do, but simply haven't had the time.

 

That looks nice. I’ve considered this light option, as well, but the whole Cargo Light tapping seems like a headache. Did you pull the Cabin Cover off to do this? Which wires did you tap?
