Muffler Advice... want just a little sound

Ok, so my muffler is rusting out, it currently is dripping condensate when running.

So if I'm going to replace it, I was thinking about adding a little bit of noise.

And before ya'll go around gaffawing and telling me louder is better, i've done that before. I've got kids and a baby in the house and I live on a nice quiet street.

I only want to hear it in the cab when I floor it.

....and go...

 

BAMuffler @dirtydeeds get the 8" system.

 

The 10" may be an option too.

 

Any pace I can hear a sound clip for these? I assume the larger sizes dampen the sound more.

Also, how are these constructed? Polished stainless?

Our systems come painted black. Whether ya order SS or aluminized steel.

I recommend SS if they salt the roads. But don't waste the $$ if they don't.

Thanks, I will check it out. Follow up question. Are the SS ones SS on the inside too? I've always like d that sound. The video clips that are on your page that was linked a few minutes ago are too loud for what I'm looking for.

 

Even if you order alumiized steel, our muffler core is SS.

Don't take the video wrong. From outside the truck on the throttle the 8" system is beast. And that's what everyone takes video of.

What you can't see by the video is part throttle and light throttle situations where it's quiet as stock on the inside

 

Do you have any videos that show the full range? I'm glad the interior noise is quiet but also don't want to be waking up my neighbors every morning.

I'm wondering how loud the low rpm cruise out of my driveway is.

it's all throttle related. Initial start up gives you the v8 vavaroom, but once that calms down you just get the wawawawa of a v8 idling. When you just barely give it gas to pull out of your driveway it's just a little more than stock, but not really enough to notice. Now if you do lawn broagies in the front yard all the neighbors will be filming you just for the sound alone Haha

 

I'm running the Magnaflow 50 series and I don't like it. Its quiet and can barely hear it during normal driving which is nice but when climbing steep grades, the inside hollow sounding drone in the cab is annoying. I've though about going back to stock.

 

I bought a Magnaflow part number #12388 from Amazon for about $140. I welded mine on myself but any local muffler shop can weld it on for a fair price. The sound is perfect for me. Not very loud u too you get on the gas. There is a small drone at like 65-70mph but it's tolerable. I love the way it sounds a full throttle. And this was the cheapest route I could find. Good luck with ur search.

 

Is this muffler a perfect fit? Thinking about going this route to keep everything else stock.

 

Just purchased a bed cover from a guy who had this system. Exact same situation as you, young ones and live on a quiet street. He fired it up and it sounded stock, but when he goosed it there was a nice rumble, not the loud popping straight pipe noise. I'll be picking this up soon

 

It seems like many in your situation go for the BAMuffler or the TRD. I wish I could hear a comparison in person of both of them side by side. I haven't heard a BAMuffler in person, but many rave about them. With the BAMuffler Keith will build you what you want for your needs. @dirtydeeds also has a sexy exhaust tip to add on to your system that would be the icing on the cake. I'm still filling my piggy bank for the whole dang thang!

 

From what I've seen Keith really knows his stuff on these trucks. I will definitely get an exhaust from him whenever that may happen.

 

Pretty much chop off the stock muffler and the magnaflow fits perfectly in the space. The stock exhaust tubing (inlet) is slightly smaller than this magnaflow (inlet). But with a step tubing it works just fine. Way better sound and I'm still very happy my truck actually sounds like a truck! Still cheapest way to upgrade that I've seen. Obviously better options out there when you spend more money.

 

I ordered the 10" SS a couple of days ago from Dirtydeeds, can't wait until it comes in.

 

BAM or TRD, your only real options here. I have the TRD, no offense Keith you make a great product. I like the way it sounds, no drone at all which is important to me and it sounds great when I have to give the skinny peddle...

 

This is what I have, no regrets. Don't be surprised if you need the resonator, on my RCSB the drone was eyewatering without it. Fine with.
