Well looks like I might get the black one I posTed a picture of. For some reason of really like that truck and the sand beige interior with it is pretty nice. Took the wife up there tonight to look at and test drive. She took it out for a spin and came back with a grin from ear to ear. The truck just drives so well, throttle response is amazing on these things. This truck is a 4wd sr5 5.7, they have given me a price of 34,031 for the truck. How does that sound to you guys? I'm not sure how much toyota moves on the pricing of these. I willing to bet its not like my Silverado was.

Toyota doesn't move too far from the sticker price. It sucks until resale time.
Being the internet, you'll hear a ton of guys claiming they walked in, bitch slapped the salesman, demanded he sold him a truck 5000 dollars under invoice and then drove it home with the salesman's wife in the passenger seat.
My dealership knocked off like 2500 off sticker which I thought was more than fair.

I paid about that for mine. However not 4x4. It's a nice all around combo that I liked. Big enough cab space and seating as well as the benefit as a 6ft bed.

Sounding like it might be a good deal then MSRP was 38,143 on the sticker. Its actually cheaper then the w/t Silverado I was looking into. Only Tundra they have on there lot that they can actually sell right now because it doesn't have the rear bumper recall. I'm gonna think about it over the weekend, I love it in the black just worried I'm going to want to clean it all the time. This would be the first black vehicle I've ever owned, my Tacoma is magnetic gray and that's the darkest color I have had.

That's a great price. Just not sure about a black work truck. It's either going to look dirty all the time or you're going to be spending every weekend washing it. Black looks good but I'm never buying another one again.

The good price is playing a part in pushing me towards it. I tried to build what I wanted in silver or white on the Toyota site and boy do they make you upgrade just to get one certain thing. In order for me to get silver looks like I have to add sr5 upgrade package which I don't want/need and the deck rail system which wouldn't be bad. They are "out of stock" of 4 colors-mag gray, Barcelona, inferno and sunset. Buying one of these is much different then a truck from the big 3, I go to the Chevy dealer and they have like 50-60 Silverado's. Lucky if the Toyota lot has 6, do they just not build a lot of these? Building a truck on the Toyota site I cannot even build the same truck I found on the lot, interesting.

Just updating my thread, I held off on the black tundra. Told dealer I would I would like a super white, silver streak or magnetic gray which I'm leaning more towards a silver streak. I had white for my Silverado and my Tacoma is magnetic gray so thinking of trying a new color out.

Good call on the color. Whatever you do, DO NOT get Blazing Blue Pearl for a work truck. You would never get any work done with the amount of panties being thrown at you.

If you had an 8' bed then why would you downgrade to a short bed??? May i suggest looking at or ordering a long bed double cab? If you order one, the sticker price should only be about 4-5 more thousand and you will never look back with regret.

Doesn't sound bad to me, I assume you're buying new? I bought my 08 DC TRD 4x4 for $22,900 with 67,000 miles. We started out negotiating at $24,500.

I upgraded my trailers so now I'm carrying my loads/tools in those rather then the truck like I was with the chevy. Yes the 8ft bed was nice but most of the time I'm not using the whole 8ft, if I need to pick up drywall/plywood or other materials ill just put it in the trailer now.

@Alloutdrs1 Just a thought with you mentioning the SR5 upgrade. Hopefully someone on here will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that upgrade gets you the 38 Gallon fuel tank, that with this truck, especially towing alot, you are really gonna want.

I was just looking at picking up a regular sr5 and that's already more fancy then I need but adds some creature comforts that I like since the truck will double as a family camping rig for weekend travels. So I'm gonna have to go to a whole different pkg to get a 38gal tank, what's the stock size? Currently my Silverado has a 34gal tank I figured the tundra would be similar to that.

26.4 is the smaller one. I don't think they make a lot of the Double's and Crews below the SR5 upgrade trim so it's something a lot of people over look. I actually would have preferred the bench seat and column shiftier and could have lived with the smaller tank, but when I bought my tuck I didn't know that was even an option in the Crew.

I would let someone else on here who is more familiar with this confirm before you change any plans, but its worth thinking about since people have posted on here that changing out just the tank after the fact is ridiculously expensive.

I just looked it up looks like stock is 26.4gal and only way to get 38gal tank is to go sr5 upgrade which then is going to upgrade me to buckets and center console which I wanted the bench/column shifter. I hate that manufacturers make everything part of a package now, be nice just to select 38gal tank on any model.

Has anyone swapped in a 38gal tank on a truck that had a 26?

Best way to go is with a transferflow 46 gallon tank, if you don't live in Cali. Swapping to factory 38 gallons is ridiculously expensive.

Yeah it looks that way, transfer flow is about $1200 and sr5 upgrade pkg is $2655. So I could save some coin going with the transferflow and keep the seat configuration I like. I guess I will have to see how many times I have to fill up during the week, right now I can go 1-1/2 weeks with my 14'silverado and 34gal tank. Ill probably be back to once a week like I am with my Tacoma, longer highway towing the 26gal might bother me.

The problem is, it's not even 26 gallons. Your gauge will read 0 miles after using about 22 gallons. The 4 gallons are supposedly needed to keep the fuel pump cool. My only regret with my truck is not waiting for the 38 gallon and I don't even tow. But if you're willing to get a transferflow, that sounds like the way to go. I can't even do that living in CA.

That's how my Tacoma is 4gal reserve when the light is on showing empty. I don't live in CA or a state that does emissions so I wouldn't have to worry about that with the transfer flow tank. Pretty surprised Toyota just wouldn't offer the 38gal tank as standard equipment across the board on all model variations.

Just putting this in your head too, they make a work truck package for the SR double cab. I had it in my 2010 regular cab and it was great; Nice durable vinyl seats, plastic floors and the dbl cab keeps the power windows. I wold get it covered in sand and mud on a regular basis and when I traded it in at 110k miles the interior looked like the day i bought it. The SR5 with out the upgrade package is like finding Sasquatch, the SR is easier to find, especially in white and a lot cheaper.

I have looked into the sr package as my current Silverado is just that a w/t with vinyl floor and seats. This time around things are going to be a little different as I'm going to use the truck to travel with my family as well. Where as my Silvy was just the business truck and Tacoma pulled the travel duties. So that's why I was looking at sr5 just for a few of the nicer features and surprisingly I have found a few without the upgrade package. Most have been black though which was the first truck I looked at, sr trucks with the 5.7 are the ones I cannot find hardly at all. That's why I started looking into sr5 trucks and liked the overall package/feel of the interior.

Gotcha...yea Toyota is weird with their packages and what you can and cant add. It annoyed me too when i bought mine. Guess Toyota is way to into being "lean".

I understand why they do the packages, it streamlines manufacturing making things more profitable for them as a whole. Which is why I'm surprised they just don't drop the 26gal tank completely and offer everyone the 38gal acroos the board, seems easier. Maybe people would freak out more filling up a 38 gal tank? Even though your putting the same amount in it just stopping less, I have a buddy who wont let his Silverado get below a half tank because he doesn't want to shell out the money to refill the empty tank...

15 mpg average times 22 average gallons....surely there is a fuel stop there somewhere. Pull a livestock trailer with mine, drops down to about 15mpg. Usually get right about 17 (+a hair)driving empty. Keep your foot out of it and does pretty well. Love mine

Yeah I'm not thinking it will be a huge issue for me, if it is I can swing for the transfer flow tank.

Does anyone know if there is a magic equation for which sr5 trucks get the Bridgestone's or Michelin tires? I see them with both while searching and would rather pick up one with the Michelins. I have the Bridgestone h/t's on my Silvy and they are ok not great. Dealer emailed me and located a mag grey, silver streak and white sr5 that he can dealer trade for me, same price as the black one!

Okay, now that you are about to become an owner of a silver tundra, you're gonna have to stop calling it silver streak... it's silver sky. o_O I think silver streak is a taco color??
