Throwing Codes

I’m getting this code, I haven’t drove in a few days. Track light and ABS light came on and then went off while driving then came right back on. What do you think the problem is?

 

Get a new gas cap and call us in the morning.

get it from the dealership, not the parts store.

 

Roger that. Can you help me out as to why that would a gas cap would effect/trigger the ABS and track light sensors?

 

Dealership gas cap is on, now the check engine light came on....

 

well got the new cap on, let it sit over night. Got in this morning to go check codes and all lights went off. after about 30-45 mins of truck running....track light and ABS light caem back on but no check engine light now. These are the codes I got before the lights came back on.

 

Throttle seemed to lag a bit and RPMs got high and didn't seem to want to shift gears.

 

I got the same codes, and that's with a new canister and cap. I'm thinking it's a small leak in the line. If you overfill your truck, gas goes down into charcoal filter and eventually it will not filter and will throw the codes.

I don't know much about that system, and you said small leak. Didn't know if you meant gas line or something else.

 

Yeah, I meant small vacum leak in one of the lines sorry about that.

 

I think hes saying if you overfill the tank it can go in canister which is the filter or breather for the gas fumes i think. Not a gas leak you will smell that a mile away lol. One time i left the gas cap open by accident and got 8 codes and check engine light.. You might need to check the lines going to the canister and test it somehow to see if its bad.

 

I have over filled it a few times. I will def have them take a look at that. Thank you gentlemen! is it OK to drive right now?

 

Yes, this is not a mechanical issue. A smoke test of your system is a option. I might just get that done.

 

update here- apparently the codes are from bad tail lights, the fuel cap fixed the issue but the bad LED tail lights made the engine light come on along with the ABS and track light. TY for all the help here. love this place!!!
