Bought my first ever new Tundra (2020 - 1794 Edition) last month and I LOVE it.
Previously have owned new Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC trucks that were all very nice, but I can already tell the Tundra will be my favorite.

(I will ask you in advance to forgive me for posting this Tundra neophyte question):

When I first start my Tundra it seems to idle/rev much higher than other trucks I have owned. Wondering if this is typical with Tundras, or if I have some type of switch/feature engaged that I shouldn't have, or if I need to take it back to the dealer to check?

Mine has done this as long as I've owned it. I assumed it was normal because I read about some Lexuses doing the same thing but I'm sure someone with more Tundra experience than me will chime in.

A high idle on start up is normal for the 3rd gen. Tundra.

My 1997 Toyota T100 high idles on start up.

Start it. Drive it. Enjoy it.

Normal, and not much different than other brands. Almost every gas engine is set up to bring everything up to temp quickly and that is what high idle does.

Noticed it with mine right off as well, but it settles down quickly and I am used to it now. The engineers probably designed it that way for a reason. I didn’t like the fast idle right off, but then full synthetic oil is a much better lubricant. The viscosity is low, so I guess the big engine gets quickly oiled up. My BMW was the same and still going strong at 267k miles.

Normal. My neighbors love it so much especially with the 6 inch dirty deeds mufflers. He tells me it sounds like an airplane taking off.

This is done as part of the process to get the converters up to operating temp ASAP to reduce emissions. This is also the reason for those dang secondary air pumps that so many have issues with. Those pump air into the exhaust stream to fire up the converters. Other manufacturers have their own methods for accomplishing the same. The Tundra's viscous clutch fan is usually locked at this point as well and adds to the volume; this usually disengages after about a minute or so. Some applications use an electric so it's not heard, and we get used to that. I think I read that Toyota keeps the clutch fan because it reliably moves the most air, versus electric of comparable diameter.
