Bought my truck last September. Ran through the test drive and loved the truck. New car delivery was pretty quick. Ran through options and paired my phone. Ever since then I have been trying to get more out of the Entune system. (Also found out truck is not compatible with remote start) The radio has NOTHING! Yes it plays AM/FM and Sirius and phone. For $51,000.00 I wish I had kept my trade in. I have tried to get apps to work but it won’t work. Radio head is a joke.

yeah, its pretty lacking in the stereo department. not much you can do other than put in an aftermarket head unit that has all the bells and whistles that you want.

I use to and mind you use to think it was alright surely not the best but alright. I have been spending more time in my truck and the stereo really is a poor example of what should be in that vehicle. The dang front speakers sound better than the rest of the system. I have never really had a super nice system so I made an appointment to go to Helotes Texas which is this Tuesday and I am going to get this thing upgraded! Not to super condition but somewhere in between. Taco Tunes on Taco Tuesday!!!:)

Let me know what you install and how it turns out. I guess I need to start looking around as well. I’m north of Austin and have been to Helotes for my previous work. I want something that doesn’t look like a Wal-Mart bargain brand when installed.

Its definitely something I'm not happy with. It looks like they made entune with a Super Nintendo. Yours is newer than mine but 3.0 still looks and feels a decade behind the competition.

Entune will be dead n gone come 2021 it sounds like. I dont use it at all after trying it with my 2012, I never bothered with it on my 20. I just use the android auto app. I'm pretty content with my radio now having the android auto and satellite radio, and the fact my stereo actually sounds like a stereo vs 2 speakers inside a giant Japanesebeer can.

How is your SR5 not compatible with the remote services? Mine is?

Toyota definitely a holdout on the headunit...is there any manufacturer today besides Toyota not supporting CarPlay and/or Android Auto on every model these days?

When I go to Toyota Remote Connect. It says This vehicle does not support remote start. Even have to plug in the VIN.

Honestly, I've been pretty happy with this version of Entune. Maybe I'm just getting old and my hearing is on the way out...

They had most of the things Hooke up and he was working on the drivers door and the sound is amazing!!! Sounds like a new truck!!! And the fella doing it is meticulous, very clean install from me just watching outside the chained area and keeping quiet!! Don’t think they even have hooked up the scope yet to tune it!!’

What they call a starter kit is more than ample for me!! It blows you out the truck. The sounds is amazing and it is a new truck again. It really made a he(( of a difference replacing the speakers and amp and the big speaker behind the back seat which I am glad I went for that. More than happy with what they did. The guy that installed the parts did a clean professional job!!!!!

That's weird, as far as I knew it was standard on SR5 and up.....tho honestly I'd prefer to have my remote start on the fob vs the phone anyways...... if it does it thru the fob, idk how to do it.

Does yours have the wifi hotspot option?

It might. I can’t get this radio to do squat. AM/FM/Sirius. That’s about it. Oh, will do Pandora or maps WITH MY PHONE plugged in to it.

It is well worth the drive over to Helotes!! On the drive back the wife even reached over a couple times and turn up a couple few songs louder. I/we are completely satisfied with what they did!!!!:)

Haha the entune head unit is a joke!! I'm not one for apps, but the sound was a joke. My Ford work XL work van had better sound with only 2 door speakers. Not to mention the hazy wrinkly resistive touch screen on the Entune unit. I've seen $180 Boss head units from Walmart that look better.

One of my first mods was removing that set up, and replacing it with a Kenwood. Not to thrilled to buy a brand new $45k truck and have to start working on the stereo. My 2017 F150 was light years ahead with 8 inch sync3 capacative touch screen. The more time I spend with my Tundra, the more I realize that Toyota gave up on these trucks a while ago. That's just the plain truth.

To each their own. The original Radio/Headunit/Stereo works just fine for me. It plays FM, CDs, and it has the Blue Toof!! I just had the Amp, speakers in the doors, and the big speakers installed behind the back seat. I think for a total of 800 watts and it is clear as a bell and will rock your socks off now. For now I am thinking I am done with the mods ,, thinking I have done enough?:) They are working with a unit an equalizer/sound processor of sorts operated with the Blue Toof?? Will look into that when it gets up and running but if it doesn’t make a seriously big difference I am happy with what Taco Tunes did to my truck.:)

It all depends on viewpoint. I can see where others' criticism comes from, but given that I traded in my '13 F150 with the 4.2" media screen, I'm happy. The 4.2" on the F150 *SUCKED.* It was the worst 'media' system I've ever owned. It sounded a tad better than what's in the Toyota, but what does it matter if it freezes up every day and is never updated?

It wasn't bad. Took me about 2 hours. I like the factory stereo so.i just want more volume. This fixed that.
