My new Swing Case was delivered today but the instructions say I have to remove the tie-down (circled in red). I have the OEM spray-in bedliner and want to minimize damage to the bedliner when I remove it. First, it looks like a torx head. Anyone know the size? And are there any preparation steps I need to take? What can I apply afterward to protect the metal?

Any and all helpful suggestions are welcome!

Cut around it with a sharp utility knife. This will ensure that the liner won't bridge and peel off what you don't want it to. Not sure what size the torx is though. Maybe 25?

As for after, you can get some bedliner from the hardware store. Not sure of a good one, but they are there.

You could cut the swing case bracket to suit instead of removing the tie down. I’ve seen someone post something on here about going that route

If you need to, you can just apply some lube or anti-seize to the threads of the Torx screw and thread it back in to the holes after removing the tie down.

Or, just touch up any bare metal with just about any black paint. You just don’t want to see bright shiny metal, because that means it’s being exposed to oxygen and will rust.
