Well that continues to solidify my thesis that you need the "SR5 Upgrade" with front bucket seats. If anyone out there has a front bench seat and you got the alarm to work, let me know!

I have read pretty much every post and forum I can find on this subject. I am pretty sure it comes down to the SR5 Upgrade. I have not heard of anyone with the front bench seat who has gotten the alarm to work properly. I have also been emailing with the guys at Sparks parts and they seem to think it could be the same problem.

Just tested in mine. 2014 5.7 SR5 CM with bucket seat. Alarm works. I haven't checked to see if I have the harness for the GBS but I'm almost positive it's probably there. I've noticed that I have plugs and harnesses for just about everything . Just missing modules.

Stupid question time, I see the microphone wired into the console. Does it come "activated" with a 2019 Tundra Limited?

I installed the GBS and the ECU along with the hood switch on my old 2011 SR5.

You can do this ! Dont pay the dealership. It took me about an hour to do the GBS and the hood switch.

You can tap on the window with your key or use two wrenches(tap them together)
I just tapped two wrenches together. Was afraid I'd break the glass ...lol

So I took my truck to the dealership today asking if they could activate my factory alarm. I gave them the print out instructions and they said that they won't do it until I get the GBS installed. And they also said they can install it for me at the rate of $170/hr. I went home and installed the GBS myself and then went back to the dealership. This time, they told me that they will still charge me 1 hour for programming the factory alarm. I told them I'm not paying $170 for a 5-minute job and asked to speak to the technician but I was told that all the technicians has left already. I figured that I made 2 trips to this dealership already and I'm not going waste anymore of my time with them. I went to eBay and bought the cable and will do this myself.

Just installed in a 2020 SR5 4x4 5.7L Tundra. Although the Toyota part finder said it would not fit or work in a 2020 it works perfect. Ordered it from Marietta Toyota had best price 136.00 with shipping. VIP PT398-34142 it came complete with RS3200+ and the small Glass Break sensor. Used Techstream 14.30 and cable to active. 2 issues. First had to turn sensitivity way up to 10 and in Techsteam I don't see the options under security but otherwise functions perfect. Don't forget hood bypass wire, if you do you will get an error symbol on dash. Here is the updated instructions I got from dealer, they have much better images vs. 2014 version.

@GunWanderer If you can find someone with techstream, they can do it. Takes less than 5 min.

Mis-read your post. My wife says i don't pay attention. Maybe she is right.

So I finished programming it. I downloaded Techstream and activated it. I downloaded a glassbreaker app that simulates the sound of glass breaking and the alarm went off. Good to go.

When they are talking about "Install the Short Pin (Fig. 6-1)" what are they talking about? Is that the fuse box? What is the short pin?

Let me say - check with your mechanic first !!!

I did this install on my 2011 CM couple years back.

From what I understood, that "short pin" is so you dont short out stuff while testing, all those other steps listed in the documentation.
Then after all tests passed, you remove the short pin and put it back in its "holding" spot.

If you look at the last page of the documentation, there should be a picture of the location to install the "short pin" and the storage/holding location for it
and I believe it says to check with the port/dealer to see if the step is necessary.

Hope that helps. All else fails, call the dealership...

I am pretty sure I have this because the sensor is there and plugged in but I just read this so need to check for the ECU. Once I confirm that I will check via Techstream on turning it on. I have a remote start/alarm so I believe the factory alarm is turned off

Hi everyone! I bought a 2020 sr5 with the sr5 upgrade package and was speaking to a local shop about an alarm install and they asked me if I had a factory alarm. Started looking online and found this thread! Didn't know the truck already came with an alarm. I tested it as well and it sure works haha

My question is, if the alarm was already activated, is there a chance that the GBS is already functioning as well? I tried tapping on the driver side window with a key but nothing was set off. If it's not activated, is it as simple as getting the dealer to activate it or just getting the part bought and going to the dealership?

    Thank you

My truck came with an alarm but not the glass break sensor. I purchased it and installed it by the directions and it worked. I clapped my hands while sitting in the truck and it went off as designed.

You should have a sensor under the climate controls if you have the GBS. (Toyota Security)

I downloaded a glass breaking sound to simulate it and it works pretty well.
