Yeah. The 4.7L has always been smooth. I can’t say if the 12 holes have made it smoother, but at idle she gives off a nice sound like a smooth turbine (after she is warm). Like a harmonic humming whir sound.

Uncles new property. 170k. 7 acres. The silos are in good shape, the older house (white 1867) needs a lot of work. The green house (1936) is livable. The barn is rough, but might be saveable

first step is clean up the property. then the barn and the older house will be getting restoration work. barns getting converted to a shop for working on the cars and machining things... (dairy building is actually perfect for the machine shop stuff). Going to have the barn structurally inspected first before we do anything..

I know it's a later thing, but a front porch & front door on the white house would make a huge difference.
...and who the heck puts an a/c through the shutter? Upstairs too? LOL - you've got some bodging to fix cause that's a life style. :fingerscrossed:

it was half way through a renovation. the house is OLD.

compared to what my sisters house was like before me and my father redid it. this is nothing.

No state income tax in TN. I'm not sure about NC's property taxes but ours are dirt cheap. Western NC is awesome too. Have you been to Asheville? Great small mountain city.

Parts of middle TN are not as well known but still awesome. I'm sure land is cheap.

I took this picture yesterday while hiking in Big South Fork.

This is from another hike in that area(not my picture)

I do prefer TN land for those reasons and I think gun laws are better in TN.

Not sure about middle TN, where about we're those pics taken?

Def been to Asheville and love eastern NC. We usually do a trip or two a year up to Ellijay/Blue ridge ga, Murphy nc, pigeon forge areas. That smokey mountain area. We did Kentucky as well but didn't like that landscape as much. Very nice but not where I want my vacation retreat.

That's Big South Fork which straddles TN and KY. I took the picture in Scott County, TN. And yes, the gun laws are better here though I think NC has improved in recent years.

Appreciate the heads up. Found quite a few properties for 1-2k per acre which is super cheap!

I've got 8 new LBJ bolts arriving tomorrow. Is some form of Loctite required for these? If so, which color?

edit actually, this might be the correct torque spec.103 ft lbs. Not 59.

@FirstGenVol where did you end up getting the lbj bolts? I should replace mine when I do my axles. They’re in tough shape.

could you send me the Part number?

I called all 3 local Toyota dealers and none had them in stock so I just called back the closest one and ordered 8 of them. Assuming the guy didn't steer me wrong, the part number is 90119-10933

Horns should arrive this evening per Santa Tracker!

Been sniffing my exhaust the past few days and it sure smells steamy fresh. Before had a slight oil/gas smell. Wonder if the combo of New o2 and New MAF Sensor is jiving the mojo?

Might try to needle grease my engine mounts bushings today. I need help!

@Tundra2, I’ve wanted to get out for a while, but restricted Randal and being on call, thankfully during memorial weekend so no loss there because I’m not a crowdsy kinda person(took a header in Vegas due to anxiety from the hoards a few years back) but the soon future holds a redemption trip from last year, to the highest lake in AZ. A crazy weather, hail, madness storm rolled thru, but to stubborn to cancel, decided to march thru. Well......i took my 2.3768 year old son and two outdoorsy people from the bar. Son took a chinny Palmer minitues after arriving and messed his hands up, that set the mood for the trip! It was cold AF, windy, cold, he wouldn’t wear a jacket, kept falling, wouldn’t not let me hold him. Nightfall came, still no jacket, we got in the tent, stripped him down and he fell asleep on my chest, keeping him warm the entire time. No dinner for either of us. Woke up to a crazy hail storm that didn’t end, even as we were packing and leaving, this was late May btw, in AZ! Got down off the mountain, and his tude changed 180•! Happy, picking up turtles at a different lower lake(definitely good birth control for the two that went with!)
So we had “fun” and got to scope out the possibilities, but it was miserable.....Hahaha. It’s a long drive, but it’s totally worth it, and I’m super excited to rip some lips, have some fun shit for lil man to do while I’m trout slaying, and not commit to a big trip planning responsibility, only doing a 1nighter and coming back late the next day. I just wish I had a lil canoe or something 238F0D3B-7C71-456B-A0CE-189DED17F6FC.jpg
Then this was him at the lower elevation lake.

Sounds like you guys had loads of "fun." Try to make this a yearly tradition because as your son grows, odds are, that he will look highly onto these memories you are making with him.

I know I look very highly on all my camping trips, both good/bad that pops and I went on.

Your son won't stay little for long. My nieces (5, and 14) seem like they were babies only months ago. Life moves fast. Enjoy the now times.

Trying to figure out which story I should tell, if any "camping/yaking/hunting/fishing" stories are applicable here.

Since I'm sober, (this time,) BSA stories in order?
