Thanks Bryan! He's pretty excited. Got my work cut out for me though...5 DAYS.... got three 16 ounce ribeyes, a big slab of ribs, ground elk to make camp chili in my cast iron Dutch oven...oh....and beer....lots of that. Pretty sure fresh trout better be on deck!

Sounds like you are going to be eating good. If he catches some fish it will be the best tasting fish ever.

I haven't been to my property in almost two years. Labor Day weekend. Took Manny. He was three. Quite a challenge then. He's 5 now so probably worse..heh...heh...
The thing is...last time there was cloud cover every night. On a clear night..damn...bazillion stars and quite easy to spot satellites going over. 8300 ft altitude. Weather should cooperate this time. Manny will freak out seeing the Milky Way!

@zcarpenter92 , Trinchera Creek flows into Mountain Home Reservoir near my property. Native trout mixing in. Trinchera Creek is quite narrow. Short fly rod is all you need to fish the Creek before it enters the reservoir....pure native trout. Not big but 12" cast iron pan fried size. Now that my health is somewhat better....I'll be making several trips down there this summer. You and? are invited if you need to get away...just sayin...super nice place...off grid..as in no water or electricity, but only 10 minutes to Ft Garland for more ice and "supplies "....

Well...… I just found out that effective this past Sunday, the Costilla County commissioners updated their countywide Covid order. All reservoirs are now totally closed until July 7th. Four county roads have been closed to non residents. County Lane 6, which goes by Mountain Home Reservoir is closed to non-residents. I access my property thru County Lane 6. I'm a non-resident so I can't even go camping on my property until after July 7th. o_O:censored: Working on plan B...….

No trout today. The Aurora Reservoir north dam parking lot was almost full at 7am. Lot of folks fishing. Saw a few fish "on" near us but the best spots near the dam out take were already taken. Park Rangers were making sure everyone was doing the right thing with spacial distancing. Beer and weber rib time with some decent Peruvian asparagus. Best I've seen. Yuge! Almost done...20200522_155724.jpg

Don't want to elaborate any more why I'm not at my "OFF GRID" property now where my nearest neighbor, if even there, is 400 yards away. I'm always fully self contained with everything I need. Been banned once so not going down that route for the time being. Needless to say I'm quite pissed off that I can't be there. I'll leave it at that. A fucking smart Jarhead improvises. That's what we are the best at, besides winning......20200522_191406.jpg 20200522_200847.jpg 20200522_202007.jpg

Took my grandson and both granddaughters camping two years ago. No fire ban at the time so did the "legal" campfire thing and made up some smores for the kids. Never again. All three were on a sugar high giggling all night talking nonsense.......even my dog wanted to get away........

All pleasantry's aside now.....I'm sorry I pissed off my Colorado friends and Mods. My life has been turned upside down for quite sometime now because of my son. Not easy raising a 5 year old at 64 on my own. Balancing my work, paying for daycare, and online schooling because of the COVID. My time off that I had planned to go to my property for two years was cancelled because my access was cut off. I get that. Went to sleep early last night because I didn't get much sleep the night before. I had put up my tent so my grandson could still "camp" out. I ended up sleeping out in the tent because Manny wasn't quite ready for prime time sleeping alone. Anyways..around 11:30 last night my son, who is banned from my place because he stole $250 worth of tools from my landlord, somehow was able to wake up Manny. My son stole all my cash in my wallet, my phone, and got my keys ant took off with my truck for 2 hours. All on video. He brought my truck back around 1:52. All on video. When I woke up Manny this morning he said "dad" came by. I'm like WTF? I checked my wallet, no $, my phone gone. I went out to my truck. There were two used 17" KO2's stuffed onto the back seat! There was a new NAPA 24R battery on the passenger side floor. My tailgate has 2 huge gashes on it. I went up to my friends upstairs and asked them to check their cameras. Sure enough.. we saw it all go down. Police were called and got a report. Warrant is out. Now it gets crazier...I had just taken down my tent because we were going to get decent rain today. My son shows up!!! I'm like WTF???? He nonchalantly hands me my phone over the fence. He had a Modelo in his hand and looked high. He asked to see Manny. Manny was upstairs thankfully. I told my son to leave and that there was a warrant out for his arrest. My friend called the police but couldn't get through, but my son left. My friend's wife at this point is quite upset.
A hour later my son shows up again and demands I let Manny go with him. Pouring down rain at this point. No way of course. My friend manages to get a hold the main police dispatcher because 911 is busy. Told my son the cops were on the way...They weren't yet but told him he needed to take a hike and he left. He mumbled about murdering somebody. The cops wouldn't come out because he left and is no longer a "threat".....WTF??? THIS IS WHAT METH DOES. So, once again I apologize for being an ass here lately. I get zero help from anybody.......and there is a good chance my friend's wife has had enough. I might be moving....otherwise my life is great..........
