Hi guys, new to forum, just got my hands on a 16 trd pro. I'm looking to find out specifically with a trd pro is it worth it to get a trd rear sway bar bc I thought I read somewhere it already has an upgraded. The 2nd question which I know gersh mixed reviews is a trd cold air intake worth it. I want to know besides the cool looks both mods add. Thanks guys any help is appreciated.

Just look under your truck from the back, should be a red sway bar...if you have it.
If not it's absolutely worth it.

I personally don't think the CAI Zoe worth it, really no gains but others might say different. Just my opinion.

Welcome to the forum. $400 for the TRD CAI,,,,, gonna take a while for that to pay for itself given the minimal improvement. Looks cool though. Sway bars make a very notable difference.

Thanks so far. I know what the trd sway bar looks like and I know I don't have 1. But I do remember on the trd pro it saying something about a sway bar or maybe it was the CAI. I dont remember. The sway isn't as bad as other stock models, I'm guessing it bc of suspension. I'm just wondering if other guys who have the trd pro version feel the sway bar difference, or is it not noticeable because of the already upgraded suspension that comes in version. I know it looks great with the red shocks, but then so does the CAI. I'm getting older at 38, not all just into looks anymore, but it don't hurt.

I'm with Ron. If you spend most of your time on the streets the sway bar will help. I'd also pass on the CAI.

If I had a pro I would get CB shims and shackles and run some bigger tires!

Yeah I definitely want bigger tires, just hard for me to justify taking off brand new tires to buy more. It definitely needs it though. I wanted to eventually do tires and 50 cal antenna. I'm debating first if I should get sway bar, cai, dee zee bet mat over my factory spray in liner, and a passenger side undercover swing box.

I'm going to echo @joonbug , the sway bar stiffens things up, that is nice for street handling and can also help when towing but it is not what you want when off road. So that decision should be dictated by how you will use the truck.

So far thanks guys for all the replies, I think I have my answer. I'm probably looking at a very rare off road, like a 90-10 favor of street. I definitely will be towing, was doing that the 2nd day I had truck. I will go with sway and stay away ca...I.

Or you could do a SABM (Standard Air Box Mod). Me personally, it was worth the money. Gained +1 mpg and gave it some roar. Trd Shop has it. Priced @ $85. Something to look into. As said above , it's a sticky situation. This kit uses your Cai. Here's a pic. You can also go to my build where I have mine installed Screenshot_20170208-001509.jpg

ANyone have a QD swaybar? I remember some guys back in the day, in the old Tundra club that did this. A couple clicks and the bar was detached from the system. Once off the trail, just hook em back up.

Here is one dyno done on the TRD intake by motoiq.com. Increase is small, but there is an increase all across the board. This seems to be consistent with the recent poll that was conducted which shows more people reporting small gain in mpg with the TRD intake (more power often leads to better mpg). I have also seen an increase with TRD intake. Intakes have been popular only a few years ago. Recently a lot of people say that it makes no difference or it even causes some loss in torque, etc. But I have not been able to locate any data to back up that claim.

Sorry for the delay, working backshift 12's. Here's the link that will explain what it is and does.

cd121082, this is an older link so i don't know if anymore dyno's have been done. Also the price is $85 not $65 as shown on site. there are people on the fence about this mod, but i think it's worth it and a lot better than 3-4 hundred bucks.
Here's a video of of installation from a member over at Tundra Geeks. Hope this helps. Here's a link to purchase if you decide. Good luck.

My tundra spends more time under 4500rpm but yeah i see the gain.
Dyno graphs like that make me wonder what's happening in the lower ranges?

I wish they did the dyno for lower RPM as well. But the claim of an increase all across the board is way they stated in the article. I personally have not noticed any loss of power in the lower RPM, but that's just my butt-o-meter, haha. They also have dyno for TRD exhaust with a larger increase across the board. Of course, if you enjoy the sound a little too much, your mpg is bound to suffer. But the sound that TRD exhaust + TRD intake make is very difficult to resist. (I did not get them for the mpg, but for the sound)

Does the trd rear sway bar make the suspension feel stiffer, ie feel the bumps more, or does it help with eliminating body roll around turns. Reason I ask is bc with the trd pro version it has the upgraded suspension and I like the feel of it, especially with nj and ny roads hitting pot holes is almost unnoticeable. I might not want it if it is going to make hitting holes much more noticeable or rough. If it doesn't and simply helps going around turns and with towing, I'm all for it. Please someone with a trd pro version advise. All replies are welcome if u know, but I'm specifically wondering about with my truck bc i know couple guys with my version telling me I don't need rear sway. Tnx

Just wanted to let anyone know who might be interested, hope it helps. I went ahead with trd rear seat bar and it's well worth the 200 bucks or so. It's amazing how much it changes feel of ride with 1 simple bar. Going fast speeds over bumps it reduces the bed hop and going around turns it doesn't lean. In short, the truck now feels glued to road. Tnx for help guys. I'm now debating tire/wheel setup that would look good with oem pocket color matched flares, getting side steps linex and waiting for my black diamond hd bed cover also linex with a ATV package. If anyone knows the answer I just started another thread in tires/wheels. U guys were very helpful and I appreciate it.

Why did you put a Bar in your rear seat, is it stocked and don't get a DWI while drinking from it! :frusty::frusty::frusty:

    See fine print
@mgm16trdpro I fully approve the TRD rear sway especially if your truck spends most of the time on the streets. It makes it handle more like a car than a truck. Now if you spend a lot of time on trails etc, might be a good idea not to get it.

I agree, I occasionally go off-road and when I do I'm not to keen on beating the shit out of it so I don't think I'll regret it. It's my daily commuter plus my 16ft loaded with firewood trailer puller. So far with what I've done with it no regerts. Just like the commercial. I love it. I need to make a decision on a wheel tomorrow. Anyone who can help please respond to the threat I started need desperate help please.
