Hey everyone, I am currently in the market to get a 2020 Tundra. I just have a couple questions.

My ideal setup would be as follows:
2020 Super White Crew Max SR5
Black or Graphite interior, NO Beige
SR5 Upgrade – larger gas tank/split front seats
TRD Sport Plus Package – color coded front bumper, hood scoop, LED head and foglights etc.
Convenience Package - color coded rear bumper
    Four Season Package
    Spray on Bedliner

Now, a couple questions. How hard would it be to change the bumper caps, rear bumper, mirrors, and grill to suit the Super White color, if I were to not get the TRD Sport package? I am told the Sports are hard to find. Would I be better off just building a '21 when the time comes? After doing all the pricing stuff on the price analysis spreadsheet, the truck comes out to about 45K with tax OTD. I have found one in the state of WA that may or may not fit my wants. I have reached out to the dealer, and they said its en-route and don't have the sticker with options yet. What they have listed has unclear packages/options. Should I wait and settle with what they have? Or just wait it out and get what I want? Would I be able to get decent amounts (~12%) off the '21 when they come out? Should I build one I want how I want no questions through toyota? I can use USAA / Navy Federal car buying to save as well. Just want some other opinions from the masters here on this site.

Thank you all for your time and take on my predicament. If you need any more info, please let me know!

    Thanks all,
    Bryan

Edit: since threads are worthless without pics, here is the livery design for my 92 Nissan Skyline GTS-T

    Welcome from NY.
I would get a TRD Sport. In the long run you will save time and money trying to get rid of the chrome.

    Good luck with your decision.

Chrome is absolutely fantastic and will forever live in infamy on some of the greatest cars ever produced. But it looks butt ugly on any 21st century vehicle, especially a Tundra...:argue: :)

I actually prefer no chrome but it costs so much to get rid of it on this vehicle. I need to repeatedly post MCGA so I stay motivated to keep my credit card in the wallet, that way I can save money for other things. The struggle is real dude! o_O:eek2:

I completely understand, you gotta do what you gotta do!.. :) When we first started shopping for our first Tundra, my Wifey pointed out her favorite, Sport, no chrome. I think I'll keep her. :muscleflexing:

I can't help you with most of your questions but the discounts on the 2020s (in Canada, anyway) haven't changed at all. The Toyota website has said they're offering $4000 off since November. So if you want to look at a 2021, you may be able to get a discount as early as November, assuming this year is the same as last.

4800296F-BABA-4294-B48E-B11AACFA1072.jpg The SX Package could be another option. It’s roughly a SR5 with color coded bumpers and grille with the old style pro wheels but no hood scoop. Not sure if this is a SouthEast package or not but something worth checking.

The SX is a great looking Tundra, but it does not allow the 38 gallon tank for some reason. Deal breaker for me.

I think White and the dark grey are the only 2 colors I was ok with having the Chrome front. I do like the Sport coloring, and thats what i shopped for and ultimately purchased.

My take is to buy the most basic build you can find and mod what you want for your needs.

    Nice Nissan btw!

Welcome. Nice livery, though, I am kinda disappointed you have a Skyline and aren't showing that ass. Not all vehicles have a nice rear, but a Skyline sure does!

Anyway, on to the tundra stuff: Buy once, cry once. Look through your list of wants, and any of them that are beyond your ability to add later/yourself should go on a list of must haves. For example, if you are not mechanically inclined and don't have tools or a shop, you should probably make sure you have that upgrade package to get the 38 Gallon tank. The convenience adds the BSM so you get rear color matched even if you don't get a sport, or if you get the sport and don't need the BSM you will still get color match rears(could save some pennies). If you think you might prefer the TRD off road package to the TRD sport then that is an alternative to get the LED headlights.

Another thing to consider for the color matching bumper up front is whether or not you intend to eventually swap to an aftermarket bumper. If you are, and can live with a bit of chrome up front for a time, then it opens up your trim options some.

Single biggest tip I will give, if the truck is new on the lot and has a lift in it, RUN AWAY! Dealers put in super cheap body lifts and then tack 5-7k on the price. Same goes for anything other than stock wheels. I walked through the dealer and looked at several Tundras and 4Runners that had lifts and wheels, and just ran my hand along the inside of the front wheel wells.... felt and looked like the "trimming" had been done with a chainsaw.

Canada really seems to have lucked out with the packages on the Tundra. According to the website, all trucks here come standard with the 38 gallon tank.

If I had an ass shot I would. Trust me. And I was thinking about that too. I am mechanically inclined and have the ability to swap most things myself. So I could open up options. Just like when I purchased my 2016 Subaru from the factory, I was willing to pay for what I wanted and that was only a $25k hatchback. So, if its easier to find one with it, I would rather get the color coded everything. However, I can deal with the chrome until I buy new bumper caps. And you make a great point with getting a new front bumper, I do plan on it, but that's way down the road. I need something to tow the baby, first and foremost. After that, I need to build the skyline more. It hasn't been touched in a long time. And it makes me sad lol

When you get that Tundra, are you going to wrap it just like the Skyline?

My plan is to do one similar yes. Instead of all the "scratch marks" it will just be the slashes. I got my final render of the skyline...super stoked now.

I will have to say that the Chrome has started growing on me with the Barcelona Red, it fits. However, my white Tundra it looked way off with Chrome.
