It’s inconsistent though. Or maybe they’re checks don’t always clear.

Food is horrible. Sopapillas are legit tho. But if you are new to Colorado or just visiting you have to go and cross it off your list. It’s like seeing the largest ball of yarn; useless but you can say you saw it LOL

As a kid it was fun. Didnt really eat much anyway, except lots of sopapillas. OMG the sopapillas were amazing back in the 90s. Fun to go through the cave and watch the cliff divers. Didn't get to do many arcades except we went to this arcade every time we went. So yea it was a place I wanted to go to. As i got a little older you started seeing the wear and tear. And the cave smelled more and more like pee. I cant believe i actually went under the bridge to scare people as a kid. I was probably rolling around in pee. The fed and sopapillas went downhill hard core.

Actually all hunting is now closed to non-residents inside the properties. 55K acres.

It's permanent. It was never enforced. The Ranches are all private property and vandalism along with poaching finally became an issue that the Ranchers Association asked for help from the county and state. Most people I know there bought property just so they could hunt. Lots of nice properties pop up for sale in great hunting areas there. The situation at the properties seems to change a lot. I personally have never allowed anyone to hunt on my property and don't plan to. It's possible that a person with a private land license/s might be able to hunt with proper documentation from the land owner. The problem was that wasn't being enforced at all so al lot of folks got ticked off enough to do something. Problem is that so many of the land owners are absentee land owners and there are literally thousands of lots on the 55K acres with the vast majority sitting untouched in prime hunting land!

I'm pretty sure you can still apply for Trinchera. High success rate. One of the more sought after ranches since it's so big with lots of elevation change. My property is only a couple or so miles south east of Trinchera so lots of elk and deer tracks all over my property.

That’s what I was thinking. Once I get a few elk under my belt I may have to try for an RFW tag down there. Idk whether they get to “trophy” status with how many hunters there are down there though.

It's a big elk herd there that does occasionally wander over my way. Think @ColoradoTJ posted picks here of the herd crossing just west of Ft Garland. Hundreds...
Trinchera is the best place actually. Lots of land there. Most of the private lots like mine are a bit over 5 acres. Some higher up are 30. The only way to bag a bull is if he is on your property. Rough odds. Too many folks were going onto adjacent properties without permission and messed things up for everybody. Huge problem with folks running New Mexico plates rampaging all over with total disregard didn't help. Lots of Colorado hunters that don't live there know the elk are there and still disregard hunting rules that are posted at the main ranch entrances. Getting worse but supposedly a warden will be active there this fall.

Unit 38 is good. A "smaller" herd of around 600 comes up to my friends property, and around Dakota Hill, from Golden Gate State Park. Mt Fairburn is a hot spot too. I drew a bull and buck license in the draw last year for 38 but was still too sick to go. Suxs..

The DOW was real active in my area last year, which was something I had never seen. So maybe they'll refocus and spend more time in your area this year. I'm itching to find out if I'm going to draw my 1st choice this year, just a couple more weeks.

I'm here. Apartment will not be ready till Friday, Tundra will not arrive till later. Staying at the La Quinta Greenwood Village. It's pet friendly and we've got 2 pups. Just had Torchy's. Delish.

Would like a recommendation on breakfast and authentic Mexican food.

The location on the right is on Havana. I think all restaurants are still take out only. You might wanna wait until they open to go. Food is awesome there for a dinner. Get there early if you go on a weekend if not I have seen 2 hr plus waits.
