do you think it would still charge if I have an otter box defender case on my phone ?

I don't have the Toyota one, but mine works with my defender case on. I'm sure it would work.

If wireless charging works with the case and it fits in the hole it’ll work

I used the same one as @Jim LE 1301

Remove the top cover of the charger and the backside of the console tray acts as the top.

Be sure to use a fast charger adapter so you get the full output of the charging pad.

I bought an extra female 12v socket and wired it underneath the center console, so there is zero exposed wire or plugs.

Works great. And never slides of disconnects after I added two rubber bumpers for an “as close to factory” look.

I installed an stainless cover on my tray. Do you think the pad has enough power to go through it? It's relatively thin and just an accent piece that I like the looks of.

I have a case with a piece of metal attached to my iphone for a magnetic holder, the magent slips into the cd slot of the truck and covers up the touch screen. I can't use wireless charging due to the metal blocking it. I may ditch the metal and do this but I'm not 100% on that since the entune radio is so terrible in the truck. I'd rather use Waze on my phone. I always laugh at the touch screen in the truck because it makes Spotify look like it was designed in 1982.

I was thinking about this mod, can anyone confirm that the APPLE Car Play will still work?

I have retrofitted the 2020 Navigation Radio to my 2019. I also added CPLAY2AIR USB Adapter & CHOETECH wireless charger to armrest tray. I can confirm that My phone charges wirelessly when in the armest holder and my apple carplay also works fantastically (wirelessly)

Apple CarPlay will still work when plugged in, but will charge with the wire even if it's in the charging tray. If you have a wireless CarPlay mod, then it will work and charge in the tray. I would get the Toyota branded wireless charger if you're willing to spend around $170. I just installed mine, it's pretty straightforward, took about an hour.
