I've always had diesels in the past and I've bad them all, but damn this trailer and RZR kill it. 3000 rpm to hold 75mph. Thinking about getting rid of the Yota. I love the truck and love how it looks, but it doesn't pull worth a sh=t

Yes. Tow haul the entire time. I understand that the truck catches tons of air all lifted and the 35's dont help but man it's a dog.

The 3000 rpm doesnt bother me to bad but damn 4000 lbs killed it. Maybe I'm just use to holding 80 up just amount any with 25000 lbs behind me.

The power band is higher for these trucks, so you have to wind them out a little to get there. Especially with 35s and no regear, she's gonna scream a bit as you get up there and the VVT kicks in.

A Tundra cannot compete in towing against a heavy duty diesel, even less so with larger tires. Its a different class of truck.

If you want to do 80 mph towing, you would honestly do better with a domestic diesel.

I have no issues towing with mine. Full steel deck 20' trailer and a Camaro. Do you have the 5.7 motor?

Drive an HD gasser with that load - go up any grade and it's WOT to hold 60 mph. Welcome to the world of towing with a gas engine.

7" lift and 35's? I could speculate what most of the issue is.

Good point. A relative of mine has a GMC Denali dually with the gas engine. He didn’t want a diesel but needed the payload for work. He regularly complains of how it pulls even a 10k load.

4.6 or 5.7L? There is no comparing any of the diesels you used to own to a 9 year old gas engine half ton pick up truck. Sorry for your disappointment but you should have expected it. 35s & doing 80mph...come on man :rofl::notsure:

You probably wanted 15mpg doing it too I'm sure

80mph with a razor on a trailer that sounds too small seems like the bigger issue here. 3k rpm is no big deal.

I had this same issue. Loved my Tundra but after owning diesels for over 15 years you get accustomed to the ease of towing with them. I went back to my roots and into a diesel again.

Do you have a windsheild on your rzr? If so that and the 35's are the problem I'd suspect. Also try it without tow haul, you dont need it for a load that light.

I tow my honda pioneer 1000-5 with windshield on an 18' tandem axle without issue, but I have 33's and dont use tow haul.

I would disagree.. I pulled a 7500lb trailer from Mississippi to Washington and had no issues going through the Rockies.. I used the S mode to make it so that the engine couldn't get to 6th gear..

You may want to hit the Tow/Haul button.

People who are used to diesels sometimes don't understand the difference. Pull 10k lbs with a diesel and it just yawns at you for thinking it has to work, pull even that little weight (3k lbs) in a gasser and it revs higher making it feel like it's working harder. Takes some getting used to for sure.
