What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Just joined you guys.
Had a Tacoma for a number of years before trading it in for something more fuel efficient. Regretted that and I'm glad to be back into a truck.

2000 with 170k on the clock and looking to start modding again!
Rust free and the timing belt was done about 10k ago.

 

The Hood & Roof now have Line-X.

 

I dig it. I might consider doing the front bumper and the mirror caps just to bring it all together on that truck. I'll be doing my roof soon, possibly my hood as well.

 

@Slowdotna I like those steel wheels a lot. Nice find.

 

I think I am done with putting anymore Line-X on this truck, my primary goal of protecting the top of everything and no longer having to worry about washing & waxing those areas has been met. The chrome and sides of the truck are pretty easy for me to keep up with, I will eventually put the original chrome bumper on the rear.

 

I’m not sure what the texture is, but have you looked into the raptor liner? I feel like the application of that is much easier, or I guess it seems simpler. Maybe I just get wrapped up in how long prep takes, 6 one way, half a dozen another.

 

Picked up a set of $30 weathertech floor mats at Costco. Trimmed the 2 bars off the left side and it fits okay on driver side.


Passenger side is ehh, I may trim some off to let it fall into that hump on the right side better but for now I'll leave it and see how it settles.


Rears fit fine as is, I don't care about the rears. Not at all like the custom fit liners but a cheap upgrade from what I had. I'll vacuum the carpet tomorrow, headed to buy some plants from a nursery now.

 

I actually like that, but I suspect the cap is part of why. It works well together.

Yep, that was one of the deciding factors that made me pull the trigger.

 

You should bring it all together by Line-X’ing the sides of the truck the same color as the cap sides.

 

Maybe when the paint goes south, but that will be several years in the future. Until then, I'll keep washing & waxing the painted areas, and rinsing off what has Line-X on it.

 

All this talk of crack manifolds and long tubes, got out a bunch of wobble extensions and took off the heat sheild......it didn’t go very far due to the dip stick tube, which it’s bracket is about 8mm away from the AC accumulator, so you can’t even remove the bolt holding the bracket. Anyways, hooked up the Milwaukee leaf blower into the exhaust and started BLOWING! Juiced the snot out of the flange and the air injection tubes, nothing really happening. Sprayed some on the collector, went to the bottom side to spray more soap bubbles, when I seen a goobery bubble forming on the collector!

I agree. All this exhaust talk does have me curious as well. I'm guessing it would be "in good taste" to check all possible leak points, and fixing leaks to see if the code goes away for me before going with new exhaust.

 

Ran over a 6-ish foot rattle snake a few minutes ago.

Not all snakes are bad, for example King snakes that eat other snakes.

 

Pretty sure king snakes can eat rattlers!!
What kind of rattlers do you have out there? I get a renob for flora and fauna!

Offhand we have:

1. Rattlesnakes. Of the western diamond back variety at least.
2. King snakes.
3. Copperhead
4. Water moccasins (cotton mouth)
5. Eye-less snakes.
6. Hognose snakes.

Those are the ones I have seen. I caught my first snake when I was 6. It was a back rattle snake. I had no idea. It was fun. I used to enjoy that rush of adrenaline. Now that I'm older, and my hands shake more now...

I tend to let them be. Unless they are visibly not a "good" snake. Then they get the Axe.

I would just Google snakes local to Western Kentucky if you're interested. I would Google it, and attach a screenshot, but I am lucky the forum loads.

 

Yeah just curious, we have a bunch of different kinds here. But I’ve only seen a few different ones outside the “zoo” type place.......fucking carol baskin!!
So that’s cool you’ve seen that many! I usually spot the birds of prey here more easily, lots of open desert and lots of tasty treats for them.

 

Lots of yard work over the years, and always looking down kinda leads you to them.

The best advice I have EVER received for "country livin" is always be aware of your surroundings.

I have caught several copperheads, several rattle snakes, several king snakes, a few garden snakes, and I've even caught a Tree snake. (Not sure if thats a native critter or not, but I did catch one when I was about 12.)

Green coloration, slanted "cat eyes," pointed snout, long red tongue.

It was neat. I let that critter go. I have several stories. All of which I am willing to share upon request.

 

Liking the sound of where you live less now. More a tarantula & birds of prey fan.

 

I killed a 2.5 inch around spider today. He was a bigun'. After I sprayed him down with some industrial strength degreaser we use to clean injection molds at work. I picked him up with my pliers, and inspected his mandibles, legs, and body. He was a healthy specimen who chose to mess with the wrong motherfucker. I have no clue what he was. Black in general coloration. White spots close to the "joints" on his legs. Large mandibles. Lifeless cold eyes. He was not fuzzy after his bath, and didn't appear to be before either. Rather leathery looking such as a tarantula would be. Maybe you can shed some light on this for me?

We have brown recluse, black widows, and several other species. I do not fuck with those, and kill those on sight.

Edit: similar to a purse web spider, but much darker. Its butt was larger than the one showed. Midsection is about correct.

at least you can see what's coming to kill you. We have invisible ticks & viruses up north. West Nile Disease should be raising it's head soon - dang skeeters. Screened in the porch today.
OH - on thread topic, cleared a code on the Tundra today. Wait & see if it comes back or something random. I seem to attract oddly random infrequent codes.

 

True that. We have ticks, and skeeters too.

It would mean my life turns completely upside down if I get the red meat allergy from a tick. Fuck me.

Long baggy pants seems to help out with ticks, and the like.

"Chiggers" are a thorn in my side too.
