I am judging interest for a custom aluminum battery hold downs for 1st Gen Tundras.

    I currently have made a few for 2nd & 3rd Gen Tundras.

    I have made similar units for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Gen Tacomas.

    Here are a few examples:
    BT_zpszhlwhrzb_eb26c4bdd11c9e557fd96d69e9cc04b5b2284462.jpg

The 1st Gen Tundra has a unique mounting that bolts to the radiator core support. This will require special machining.

A few years ago, one of the members at TW asked me to make one to fit 1st Gen Tacomas. This is a similar but not identical mounting arrangement. These are some pics of what I came up with.

    For a 1st Gen Tacoma:

    IMG_1381_zpslgkwd2af_027ce78fdea0e7e340424051b45b397049d31db5.jpg

To justify the expense of developing this I started a group buy on TW. When we received enough players that had money, we started the design process. I plan to make this with adjustable width jaws.

If there is enough interest, I will start with some drawings to show you what the battery hold downs would look like. After I have shown you a drawing, I will start a list for people that actually want to part with a little cash to own one.

When I am ready for deposits. I will send everyone a PM requesting a deposit of $30. This is to be paid via paypal. If you are someone that needs to send me a check or a kidney, PM me and we will work something out. When I get ready to ship, I will send you a PM for the balance.

When you send your paypal payments, do me a favor and put your screen name on paypal in the notes section.

These are the prices (shipping to the lower 48 states included: After April 1, 2021 shipping will not be included in these prices. Shipping will be extra.

To make a unit with all of the hardware and domestic shipping (lower 48 states) in raw aluminum - no coatings, figure $75. Group buy price $65.

To make a unit with all of the hardware and domestic shipping (lower 48 states) in powdercoat with a contrasting TRD letters figure $95. Group buy price is $85.

If we can get at least ten (10) people that want to play, I will do $65 for the raw aluminum and $85 for the powdercoat. These prices will only be good for the initial group buy. After the initial group buy the $75/$95 prices will apply.

It will take about six (6) weeks from the end of the collection of deposit money, to the ship date.

For powdercoated finishes, this is what I have used in the past:

    1. Textured black (matches TRD blower)

    2. Gloss white

    3. Gloss red

    4. Gloss black

    5. Textured red

    trda%20003_zpsdk3tuzs2_76477ca653daa819f0bbf2845d85b608c21d3a77.jpg

I have also made the aluminum in a satin/brushed finish and painted the TRD red or black and then clear coated. This is the same price as powdercoated.

    011_zpsc8qbbxqt_3d3c16c74d267707982290fcc1342549424f5773.jpg

If you prefer one without the TRD engraved on the top, I can accommodate that request, but I am not doing any custom engraving.

Right now, we are just looking for people that are interested. If we get ten (10) people on the list, then I will ask for deposits of $30.

    0. Coupe , powdercoated textured black with gloss white TRD.

I have a public service announcement.

I have had a few people on TW, report that have had non-sealed batteries leak a little around the fill caps. If the acid leaks, it will attack the aluminum in the hold down. If you have a sealed battery, this is not a problem. While there have been a few instances of people with this problem, there are a lot of people that have conventional, non-sealed batteries that use these battery hold downs without an issue. Since there have been a few instances, I am warning people that do not have sealed batteries.

If I was considering one of these for purchase, I might co-ordinate this with a sealed battery upgrade.

I really like this and that price isn't bad, but I just drilled another hole so I could use a standard bracket between the radiator support and battery.

Can someone remove their bolt to the radiator core support and tell me what size this bolt is?
