There is no way I could have known older ECUs had a variance in the code when the features were originally designed.

I hope everyone realizes this stuff isn't that old, it's bleeding edge. I perfected direct-shift in January...

 

I think you underestimate the difficulty trying to solve a puzzle written in assembly that includes no instructions. Development takes time.

And for those who may not understand the difficulty of hex, I'm playing around with the files on my 2002 Jetta TDI in WinOLS. Hex isn't easy, but I'm not an expert. I'm hoping that vF Tuner is more like UpRev tuning version since I can understand it easier.

But that's my two cents worth of unsolicited advice.

I wonder if there is any point to using it right now if the only thing we are waiting for is direct shift and s mode gearlock. My engine and transmission updates are complete. I suppose a guy could play around with the program and try and become familiar. I don't think I'm brave enough to load any changes I make!

Not yet. I’ve got a key though. Waiting for MT Tacoma support which is coming this weekend.

 

Looking at the site, once it's available, will the vF tuner software ($199) and the vF tuner prog. cable ($170) be the only things I need? I am only interested in tuning on my own vehicle. Thanks!

One question I have is about the registry key for using the software. I currently have it installed on my Surface Pro 4, but in the future if I want to install it on a larger laptop (my vision is going bad) is it possible to just install that registry key on another computer?

You would need to request a new key.
