Yeah. Not excited about doing it based on the headache factor. Might hire it out.

JBA says its a 5 hour job on their website. Everyone here says the first time is more like 12 plus hours.

Bonus from everyones reviews, here and elsewhere, is the noticeable boost in performance.

 

If I actually believed I could do it in 5 hours, it would already be done. It would be a job that I start on a Saturday morning and finish Sunday with numerous prayer breaks in between.

Although, Sue with 1A auto made it look pretty easy on Youtube. She's got skills.

 

I hear you. Having a lift is key to auto work. Crawling around and under without a lift is what kills you. The other factor for me is finding someone I can trust that can do this properly THE FIRST TIME PROPERLY without fucking it up.

Might give the stealership a call and see their estimate, although the last monkey there screwed up my axles seal. These dedicated muffler shops around here are turn and burn with cheapy product. Scared Jethro Missingteef might mess things up.

If I do it myself, I’ll plan on 2 full days so theres no pressure to hurry. I need to watch Sues video, as I haven’t yet.

 

That’s why you need to start brewing them yourself.

 

That shop vac on blow thing is a fantastic idea! My manifolds are c/rusty. Y-pipe as @Darkness called it is behind the engine for me.

If I ever get the sack to attempt that job I will dread every second of it.

Well.. tested the cadillac horns out. now i just have to find a spot to mount them out of the way.

Go all in and get a train horn! I’ve always wanted one, but having to mount a compressor for it nixed it for me.

 

Yeah, so there's definitely something wrong with mine. I can feel it idle and itll shake my 44oz coke in the cup holder at idle. Shakes it at highway speed too. I may need to look into that...

I actually got to use Ironman for truck stuff today. After the locking myself out of the car snafu(SHOs are VERY easy to break into...) I unloaded all my stuff from it to transport to the gf's house. Very good feelings aroused.

 

We used to do Saab driving events, ending the day at some restaurant. Invariably after dinner would be the let's see how many cars my keep will open. it was never just your own, I think one worn key opened 5 different cars one time. So sometime you only need another SHO key to get in. Sorry, should'a mentioned that earlier. Glad it worked out for you.

 

Those are good & loud, but I need more treble to catch my attention, only reason I didn't order them too. There's a great airhorn on one of the tractors at work - a rental. Opened the hood & dug around trying to find a brand, but nothing was labeled. Wonder how much Budget charges to rent a big rig for a week -

On my show car I added another high tone, so two high tone, one low tone. Really grabs your attention. not the right way to do it, but just jumpered it inline. So far so good many years later.

 

Nice idea. There is a Tundra donor parts truck locally that I’ve been wanting to visit. Think I’ll snag both of the horns and put them inline like you did here.

 

I'd like to hear a clip of just the high tone added & both added. For professional purposes of course.

For grins last year, I did disconnect each of our horns and operate them independently. The passenger side sounded like a weak little Tercel from 1982. The driver side was not much better, but together they are pretty loud. Your idea is good and holds promise.

 

No highway speed shakes here. Just that random rolling barely perceptible vibration on limited occasion at idle in park only.

 

Speaking of horns, I mount these Stebel airhorns on my motorcycles. Loud enough to rattle your fillings out and make the driver next to you $hit their pants. Never tried it on a cage vehicle...hmmm...

@Professional Hand Model, another thing i have noticed about my tundra. The ac on my truck not only pushes my rpms up, but puts more power to the wheels. For example, my pinion bearing only whines when i put very light throttle around 35 mph. When im coasting around 35 mph the sound is not there, only under light throttle. BUT when my ac is on while COASTING around 35mph, my pinion bearing in my diff whines as if i was giving it light throttle. Just something interesting i have noticed lately.

 

So I did my oil change today. Since I have a V6 manual, the Skid Row oil pan skid I have has the hole for the oil to drain a couple inches off. So today I messily did my oil change but installed the Fumoto valve so next time I can just attach a hose and hopefully it should go much smoother!

Also got my fuel line in the mail today for the rear diff breather relocation mod. Im gonna possibly tackle that tomorrow. Should I use the breather valve im removing on the end of the tube that I tie up around my tail lights? Also, I see people routing the breather up to the engine, fuel fill cap area, or the tail light area. Any one have any preferences as to where I should route it? Thanks

 

I sent mine up to my tail light area. You can still use your current breather, just make sure it flows outward when you blow from the threaded side. I, and others have used a 2way breather, so air flows in and out w no issues. If you don’t want to wait on a 2 way breather, I think you can disassemble your current one and remove the rubber check, and it will act as a two way breather. I feel like the tail light area is the easiest to route to, just make sure to leave some slack or a loop for suspension travel

 

Thanks for the info FrenchToasty. I could probably also reuse the breather I have now, and then order a 2 way breather and when the comes, swap it in right? Either way, Im not gonna do any water crossings or any offroading for that matter for at least a week or two. So maybe I'll just order one. Any idea of the part number for that 2 way breather?

 

a small engine fuel filter works fine. you just need a breather that lets air in and out but keeps debris out
