    Gang,

My local Toyota dealership quoted me $1,250 (10 hours x $125/hour) to install the TRD Pro suspension on my SR5. My intention for having the dealer do it was so that it get's added to my warranty, if I'm off base there let me know.

Has anyone else done this and can compare rates?

Good lord. 10 hours to remove 18 bolts/nuts and put back in? You're getting raped.
It took me 4 hours to put my Kings in and that included removing the rear kings, revalving them, and installing a second time.

If you cannot do it yourself then find an independent. Who does it is not going to affect the warranty. If the dealer tells you that they are blowing smoke up your backside. Dealers are going to rape you on something like this.

Way way to much for that install. Its a simple install with not much involved. Hour each side of the truck is all they need. Its just swapping out coilovers and rear shocks. Nothing else to it. $300 - $500 range and no more.

Thanks. If you add the suspension to your truck independently do the new parts get added to your existing warranty or do they have a different warranty timeline?

To further complicate things I've spoken with a couple dealers that seem clueless about the upgrade, one even told me it was NOT possible and those suspension parts are only available on the Pro model trucks.

I just had the Pro suspension installed last month on my CM limited , I called two local 4x4 suspension shops, one was $425 and the other was $450 both with alignment. I ended up using my mechanic that's works on my German cars, showed him the trd like a pro video, he said it was super easy. He charged me $400. The ride is so much better

Dealers are retarded. Why not buy Kings or something? Cheaper and better than the shit pro stuff. Of course Toyota isn't going to warranty aftermarket parts. But it's night and day difference and it's owner rebuildable, and tunable. Not only that you get spherical bearings on the rod ends rather than shitty bushings.

Go with Bilstein or Fox. Those brands have testing and have been trusted by actual Car brands to be placed in the vehicles for their consistent but some say boring performance. Kings are meant to be tuned and maintained to a specific customers needs or custom build. And yeah have somebody else install. More than likely a shop that also does alignments. The TRD pro shocks are somewhat set it and forget it with their piggy back reservoir.

The OP asked for install pricing, not which suspension he should buy. Looks like he already has purchased the pro suspension. I agree that the kings, Fox, icon, etc are going to be nicer but maybe he like many don't want to spend $2500-$3500 bucks on them. Plus not many of us are going to Baja the crap out of our trucks and just want a nice upgrade.

You could not be more wrong. King sells OE specific coilovers and shocks that are bolt in application for our Tundras, just like Fox, ADS, and ICON.
    http://www.kingshocks.com/products/oem/toyota-oem/
ANY quality aftermarket shock offers tuning capabilities (valving/spring rates) to suite the driver's preferences and the vehicles requirements. You can buy a set of Kings and it's the exact same steps to install as the TRD pro suspension. The difference is the pro suspension tells you what you want vs you telling the suspension what you want. Do you really want the exact same spring rate and valving for a bone stock truck vs one with an aftermarket plate bumper with a winch?

When I got my kings, the fronts were perfect for my needs aside from ride height. But guess what...kings have an adjustable preload collar so I can set it to whatever I want. The rears I revalved, but I expect a lot out of my suspension rather than just dealing with what was given to me.

Pair the front coilovers with a set of aftermarket control arms and you're going to pull just shy of 13" of travel and still be able to achieve over 4* of positive caster at ride height. Try that with the pro suspension.

To clarify I have not bought the suspension yet, so yeah I'm still not completely decided on direction. I appreciate the feedback.

$2000 for King coilovers and rear King shocks, both with remote reservoirs. All you gotta do is call Micah at Downsouth Motorsports. The cheapest I've seen the pro suspension was $2300.

We get it,.u love kings, I don't know anyone buying pro suspension retail, I like many here buy them on CL or ebay or wherever for less than $1k. I got a brand new set with 20 miles on them from the dealer for $1k plus the trd skid plate. So I'm into them for 1400. Still way cheaper. I looked at kings and they wanted 1500 for fronts and like 1400 for rears on all sites if I can remember.

So now we're comparing brand new vs used? I get it if you want some craigslist or ebay specials. And I'm not referring to just King. I'll take ADS or Fox over TRD Pro as well. You're EXCEEDINGLY limited in what you can do with the pro suspension.

With King, Fox, ADS, ICON you get:
    • Adjustable ride height via preload collar
    • Spherical bearings (heim joints) rather than bushings
    • Your choice of spring rate to best suite your needs
    • Vavling characteristics that suite your driving style and truck demands
    • User rebuildable and readily available seal kits and oil (to this day I haven't found a seal kit for the Pro suspension)
    • Costs the same if not less than brand new pro suspension
    • Larger oil capacity which in turn means less shock fade and less frequent rebuilds
    • Option for compression clickers

Little off on the pricing. But again, if you call instead of just clicking through a checkout and tell Micah you are a Tundras member and I sent you, you'll get a discount even off their website discount.
    https://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-...-kit-for-2007-2014-toyota-tundra-4wd-2wd.html
    https://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-...-for-2007-2015-toyota-tundra-25001-144-a.html

Everyone builds to suite their needs and cost requirements. But if OP is shopping and looking for brand new, you'll get more for less by going aftermarket.

A little of this and a little of that.
I was just at the dealer getting my last free oil change and even the tech told me to have it done anywhere else besides them.

So I was seriously thinking of doing Kings on the Tundra. However, I know I am not going down the rabbit hole on this truck like I did the Tacoma. With that said, I opted for the 6112/5160 for less than $900 shipped. I think for the price, drivability, and the fact it is going to be a pavement princess, this was the best option for me. However, if you are not honest with yourself, you could waist a considerable amount of money on that Pro suspension. I honestly have no idea why everyone is so attached to it when the 6112/5160 is available at more than half the price.

So I just finished installing the 6112/5160's on my Platinum. the ride quality is amazingly better. They take the bumps significantly better than stock shocks. The ride is smoother, more controled, and much more dialed in. They are set to 1.9" of lift in the front. If you spend 2k plus on the Pro suspension you my friend are a fool. This suspension setup is identical to the pro. Money you spent in just the pro setup, I got nearly the identical setup, and wheels. "How bow dah"

I am really digging this forum, you guys crack me up!
I just had PRO suspension, shackles and alignment, plus an overlooked NYS inspection installed at my local dealer for $600.00. One of the big reasons I had it done there is because the tech came highly recommended.

I think the pro suspension is definitely an upgrade and maybe worth it if you get it for ~ $1,000 and will be happy with a stock ride height. Add install $400. But, if you wanna sit a little higher and still have a nice ride, King, Fox, ADS, Icon, Toytec. Ome will set you higher too but isn't rebuldable/revalveable. jberry813 might sound a little harsh but he know his shit and is pretty respected by members here who seem to know their shit too. Once you get past his direct approach, you'll find kernels of knowledge littering his posts. Seems I learn something every time he posts. Good luck with your decision.
