I got a check engine light a couple of days ago on my 2001 4.7l V8 AC 4x4 with 215,000 miles.

I checked it with a code reader and got the following; "evaporative emission system vent control circuit".

The truck runs fine with no noticeable issues. I reinstalled the gas cap and disconnected and reconnected the battery. I still have a CEL.

What does the Tundra braintrust recommend? Ignore it and keep trucking? Start trying to track down the root cause?

    Any advice?
    Thanks

There was no code number, just "evaporative emission system vent control circuit".

You may have to use a different reader. AutoZone will read it for you. The P code number will help narrow it down easier.

Can’t remember which code mine threw, but it threw an evap canister something or another code about 2 years ago with 150k miles on the 2002.

Autozoned did the code read and said the part only was $500 to replace. My sphincter quivered. I called my friendly high dolla corner service station and they said buy a new gas cap ($8). Not sure it this will help, but it did clear my CEL after a little driving time. Pretty sure it went away on its own without battery disconnect.
