They won't/can't disable the valve, it's potentially dangerous. If you roll over you'll spill fuel everywhere. They might pop it open.:transformer: It'd be best to try to get them to warranty the tank, it's a long shot but worth trying.
When you remove the filler neck from the tank you can see the shiny sliver valve about 7" down inside. There's an anti-siphon "bullseye" near the top. You can use a long, thin, flat screwdriver or a coat hanger to pop the valve open. It pops open surprisingly easily. I got a little aggressive with the screwdriver and bent my valve so won't close now......oops. :p

just read your post about it on your thread. Got the link from the refueling thread. Hopefully I can get them to warranty it and install that skid plate for me. Wasn’t a very fun one man job. Can’t imagine having to drop the tank by myself like you did.

you’re in Santa Cruz! We should link up when I’m back up there! Spending the quarantine down in La on and off. You can teach me about these trucks and how to be liked around these parts!

Dropping the tank is easy when it's almost empty, PITA but easy.
Yeah, stop on by when you're up here. I'm always home, even when not quarantined 'cause my shop is here.

Shop? Like truck shop? Like you could help me wire stuff so I don’t burn my skin off and explode my electrical system?

exactly what I was thinking! Warrantied for 8 years/80k for ca emissions stuff. Wondering if the jumping is what caused it though. So if I go out next weekend will the same shit happen?

Oh also. I need new rear brakes. At least according to the dealer. He said they’re 99% shot lol.

pretty sure I had fronts done not too long ago. But does anyone run aftermarket brakes that they like better? Perform better?

    I went aftermarket:

StopTech slotted sport rotors (if yours are warped already)
    Posi Quiet ceramic brake pads

so far so good and stops better than when I had the oem.

Had a stoptech BBK on my Audi. Was niiiiceeee.

you have that combo on all four corners? “Quiet” take away from any performance? I guess if it’s better than OEM still doesn’t matter

Hey, @typeone what prompted you to get more involved on here now? It’s good to have you, especially because you don’t mind playing hard in that truck! Just curious, because I see you signed on more than 2 years ago. Did I miss you on this thread before... or did you change your name-? :hattip:

Got more time now. Been doing a bit more with the truck during the shelter in place. My days are spent with very little substance haha.

I signed on when I got the truck. Posted a little just to get a feel. Then life got busy and the truck looked good enough for me so I left it alone. Now wanting to get into overlanding a bit more and this place is full of help.

I live in SF with the lady but during the times we’re hanging down at her parents place in SoCal because sun, backyard, some of my buddies are down here. Food, dogs, etc.

I had an Audi A4 that was heavily modded and was super active on those forums and loved the friends and connections I made. So hoping to get settled in here as well!

Cabinet/furniture. But I'm also building a metal fab shop. As far as wiring, hell yeah... super easy and everything soldered. Also have welder, tube bender, plasma cutter, 20 ton press etc. My welding still needs a lot of practice though.
Happy with the same rotors @TheBeast mentioned. But I run EBC yellow pads, they're super dusty but stop the 37s really well.

I’ve been running the EBC yellows for a while now also Warren. They are dusty but stop really well!
I did just noticed they are eating my rotors though. I “used” to have slotted rotors. The slots are disappearing. Hahaha
