I am currently investigating mounting points for this monster of a horn I fixed. Im considering putting it inside the bumper. Its roughly 24 inches long, by 8 inches wide, and 5-ish inches tall?

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I'm glad I used ALL the wiring harness for the light bar so I can extend my guard out for service.
    20200502_192807.jpg
Adjusted my headlights closer to what they should be also. One was tilted down more than the other. I will verify adjustments tonight.

Giving it up for today. I am running out of daylight. Pops, and I waxed Mom's Sequoia.

    Roughly 3.5 deer impacts.

Also, I slid off the road once during iced over conditions. I was going 10-15 mph (maybe 20), and the ass end kicked out from a gust of wind. The embankment shielded the cab of the truck, and wind caught the ass. Rear tires caught some traction, and guided me into a 8 foot "embanked" ditch. Front tires had ZERO traction. Believe me I was turning this steering wheel for my trucks life, or so I thought. Shifted deer guard over to the right about 2 inches, and broke my drivers side turn signal lens. I ended up sideways in the ditch facing the direction I was coming from. Did a full 180. Lol

Without deer guard I would have totaled my truck because I was going fast enough to engage airbags. (Barely)

Other than side marker, and a radiator no real damage. (Radiator was original to the truck, and I think the impact rattled it enough to cause it to leak. At the time radiator was 16 years old?)

The lower "tube" on the deer guard is from a turkey I decapitated at 50 mph? I was scooting pretty good nonetheless.

Does this series of stories answer your question? @wingnutted

I'll still admit to curiosity over the 0.5 deer, but it sure sounds like the bumper was well worth having! Glad it was there to take the brunt of the impacts. And the turkey just sounds unfortunate...although I'll admit to a slight chuckle with the overall description... :D

Picture this, I'm rolling highway speeds on a divided highway. I'm in the slow lane, a dump truck passes me in the hammer lane. Deer runs out from the median, he hits it in the rump on the passengers side, but doesn't kill it. Fine red mist from his headlights. Its in my lane now about 30 yards in front of me, and is trying to stand up on its front legs. I knew I couldn't stop in time, and didn't have time for evasive maneuvers at 65 mph. I position the truck so the drivers side upright of the deer gurad hits this deer square in the face. It was a rough, bloody ride. I'm positive I folded over its neck, and crushed it's skull to a million pieces. At least it was quicker than it suffering for long because of the other truck. I mean this things ass was literally rotated 110° from normal spine. No way it would have lived. I was washing blood off my truck for a week.

Its rough out here when the buck bushes get tall. The deer stand on the side of the road like goats in a pasture. No man's land.

Hopefully you get a chuckle out of this one as well, or maybe sick to your stomach.

My truck has been through some hell. Not as much hell as some of y'alls. For a 2 wheel peel, V6. She's seen her fights, and always come out gleaming.

I know one day my luck will run out, and the gods will stop looking down upon me, and my truck.

Glad you and the truck came out of that ok, sounds like it could have been way worse. I'll be the first to admit, my morning commute is pretty much other cars and maybe a pigeon or two trying to get something off the street. Nothing like that. Brutal

I drive an hour each way through the sticks. Little development. Some small areas with less than 100 people to their "province" name. I also drive at the worst possible times. Dusk, and dawn. Thanks to 3rd shift.

This Tundra is the oldest vehicle we have ever owned without a deer totality.

    Chevy lumina, totalled. 7 deer.
    Mercury tracer, totalled. 5 deer?
    Malibu Maxx, totalled. 8 deer.
    Gmc Sierra, totalled. 4 deer.
Nissan frontier, still going. 3 deer.
Chevy Silverado, still going. 5 deer.

We "redneck rig" and rebuild everything except for this truck. If we reported each deer collision to insurance we would be without a vehicle for longer than it would take us to rebuild what we have.

It is mine, and I will not "rig" anything unless I have no other choice. Even then it won't be "rigged" for long.

Well... shit. That's a new one.

This is a code under the "airbag" prompt. I can't recall the exact name of it, but maybe one of you fellas can shine a light on this?

Also, my P0420 code, and shift solenoid E code are still active.

Regarding P0420 I'm wondering if my exhast manifolds are leaking. Is that a possibility? Or is that something that I would obviously be able to tell. Even a small leak?

My truck sounds the same as it always had under the hood.

probably failed cats.. but replacing the sensors with new Densos can fix the light too.

as for the airbag code.. your going to need to find the short. wiring diagram time.

So, ever tried deer whistles? Cause I always wondered if they actually work. Either they don't or you've not tried them, that's a lot of deer.

Grandpa had them on his car. He had never hit a deer but got them "just in case". He hit 3 deer in the first year he had them. I've never seen anyone so pissed off over wasting $10. :D

I just ordered new front struts to go along with the 2" leveling kit along with new front rotors and pads. I'm happier than a gay man in a dick tree at the thought of not having a truck with the stinkbug look...

Put the first coat on the top/bottom and what will be the drawer faces. Cure time is 24-48hrs which I didn't know so it's going to be a long process this week while I build up the coating so assembly won't be until next weekend!

@NUDRAT yes, I've tried them. When they were "new" on the market they seemed to sorta work locally at least. The deer were not used to them on every other vehicle. Hence their effectiveness at warding deer away. They have long since adjusted. This is why I want to install that dump truck horn somewhere hidden.

    @Dog 110% agree.

@Outbound Sounds like me. I wasn't pissed. Just disappointed. Lol

@Grumpy74 I think you're missing the point @TX-TRD1stGEN was making.

Actually Tundra2, I'm not missing the point he was making. If he can't see the humor in the joke, that's not on me. If y'all want me gone, so be it and boot me...but I'd prefer to stay. But if I have to pussyfoot around, I'll show myself to the door.

It's not me that you need to be worried about. I love jokes and don't get butt hurt.

    But

This site has very specific guidelines about what can be talked about. Political and gay jokes are not tolerated on here so I am afraid you might be crossing the line with your posts.

I hope you are able to "keep it clean" and stay here for a long time.

There are many great first gen folks here with tons of knowledge.

    Glad to have you aboard:cheers:

This is one of the only sites I've visited that doesn't censor swearing. Sometimes a fuck is necessary

They do a great job with the social topics since unfortunately there's not a lot of civil conversation in those. Seems far easier to just shut it all down than try to keep every calm.

    Ratchet straps are gone! HOO-RAY!

Part number, and date. Excuse the sloppy handwriting. I didn't think to do this until I was already under the truck. 20200503_122146.jpg
Investigated the front band. I will change it soon too. (I ordered the wrong one in Roman's absence. My bad)20200503_122156.jpg

It appears to me that the rubber "wrap" on the bands holds moisture, and causes rust.

Anyone out there running without the rubber on their bands?

Also, I can't remember who had the "eagle eyes" and spotted my ratchet straps. Nonetheless here ya go! Lol:D
