If you want to filter - how about a washable filter attached under the cowl openings? Basically go to the head of the line.

That would sorta work, but max blast AC is done thru Recirculated air, so it doesn’t pull thru the cowl. The cowl doors shut and then pulls inside cabin air, thru two openings; one in front/above of the blower and one behind and above right by the firewall

Or is that what you mean, under the vent doors above the fan? Yes I want one there, but no easy way to get one in there

Oh - duh. Although I guess if you're running max the windows are closed anyway.
Really, the stuff you want to keep out is coming from the cowl intake.
Unless you drive with windows open often

Nah. Given a choice i'd keep any filter outside of the cabin. I have an irrational irritation with noisy HVAC systems & a filter inside would just add to the cacophony. Why on earthy don't the automakers hire a fluid dynamics engineer to design the ducting to reduce the ruckus of air flowing through them? Get in a luxury vehicle, a/c on high & it sounds like a dang jet engine running in the car. Ridiculous.

Installed sliders from White Knuckle Off Road. Pretty stoked on how they ended up

But I might look into a cowl filter, the mesquite trees here drop sooooo much crap, beans, needles, needle leafs, huge pollen pods. And that’s what scares me, when those cowl doors open and just dump all that into my blower

They were right around $1,200. They have two thickness options for the outer round bar, and I went with the thicker (heavier/more expensive option). That price was with shipping, and having the shop deal with the powdercoating as well, just to save myself the hassle of finding a paint shop open with all the current closures.

Install was pretty easy, took about 2 hours and needed 6 additional holes drilled into the frame (3 each side).

@wingnutted Those White Knuckle sliders look great. That's what I'm leaning towards even though they are pricy. I cant find anyone that will give me a reasonable quote to weld on Brute Force Sliders. One 4x4 shop wanted $600 just to weld them to my frame.

Did they have to ship to a place with a loading dock or did they ship to your home?

There were a couple of different options for shipping, just give them a call and Natalie in their front office can really help out. I went with the cheapest option, which was actually to pick them up at the local freight terminal. Just drove down, walked in, and a guy loaded the shipment pallet into the bed with a forklift. Much better than paying another $150 for residential delivery, IMO. That being said, my office is 20 minutes from the freight terminal, so it was pretty convenient...

@FirstGenVol Just let me know if you want other info or more detailed pictures...but I'd totally recommend based on fit and finish alone. Haven't even driven the truck since I put them on this morning, much less gotten into a situation where having them mattered, but I've been impressed with White Knuckle as a business.

I wish...I think White Knuckle is a pretty small shop, cause I placed the order back in mid Feb. Well worth the wait.

I'm in Seattle, and White Knuckle is somewhere in the SoCal area. I called them a few times over the past months just to check in. Seems like they're doing well, I'm fortunate enough to be able to support these smaller shops wherever they're located.

Plus, let's be honest...they make a pretty BA slider...

I hear ya. I haven’t forgotten you. I did initially say I wasn’t in a hurry and it was for free except you pay shipping. I’ll get to it sometime before Thanksgiving :D.

Not sure how/if the shipping store is even operating these days? Been in my bunker since last months banishment. Even started eating meat again due to depression and noticed my strength has come back!

I tried every imaginable scenario to install a replaceable filter inside and above the blower. There is nothing/nowhere to mount something for easy access.

The upper cowl filter at the hood/windshield screen was a no go for me due to it being open to rain and other gravity prone debris. Plus its a pain to access easily. I’ll just hose off the coils every year now that I know how to do it. Glad it worked for you!

Been wanting to do this for a sometime. Didn’t care for the OEM orange pull so sprayed it up with some leftover Toyota Barcelona Red.

I actually went to the grocery today about 6pm. Not sure if it was the hour or otherwise, but definitely some holes in the meat displays.
The shippers are running w/o delivery gtd's. The covid tends to hit a station/run through it, then move on - so your local service will be fine, then rapidly horrific, then slowly fine again.

All my plywood has been ripped down. Have the top/bottom ready for flex seal (that finally came in at 5pm today). I will get those pieces coated tomorrow morning and start assembly.

I'm still missing my carpet in the drawers and my turnbuckles but everything else I need is ready to go. I still need to figure out handles/locking but that can come later.
