Really taking advantage of all this “work” from home to continue to maintain and now start to upgrade up my Tundra. Been wanting to strengthen the exhaust sound for that beautiful 4.7 before I get into suspension; after some research I found this would be a great balance between sound and price. Got both an Aero Turbine 2525 (non-reson) muffler, as well as this nice TRD exhaust tip. I’m wondering if the wider tip will accent the sound a tad more? I do really like the design regardless.

What you guys think? Both arrive on Tuesday and will be welded on same day! Stay tuned..

That tip will add at least 5-10hp at the wheels :fistbump:

Well, regardless of HP or sound improvements, I like the looks of that TRD piece.

Shoot almost adds as much HP as my Boba Fett decal ;) But right? I’m convinced that tip is custom, can’t find anything else anywhere like it.

The tip might give it a slightly deeper tone since the opening is expanded, that might slow down exhaust pulses just a bit at low RPM.

Be sure to post a sound clip once it's on.

I left my Tundra stock tailpipe on when I had my aftermarket muffler installed so I didn't add an exhaust tip but on my Sequoia I had it brought out the back when I had muffler installed. I added an exhaust tip similar to the TRD one about a year later. And yes, as @Darkness said it did change the tone. It's a quieter at idle and cruising speed but deeper when accelerating. 20200424_091511.jpg

Hm.. very interesting. Again the tip for me was purely for aesthetics, but now you’re making me want to first install muffler alone to see what we’re dealing with, and then do tip after to see the difference. When you say quieter on idle and cruising, is that more drone deadening or overall just quieter?

Thanks for the input! I’ll essentially be running with the same setup; exhaust tip is going to be slightly wider at 4.5. How’s noise inside cabin? Hoping it’s a much more noticeable but not to the point where you gotta speak louder.. also.. nice avatar :laser:

Interesting. Never realized muffler tips accentuated the engines sound.

I know my old OEM muffler sounded louder then the new OEM. Maybe age has something to do with it?

In the first video I could see your shiny new bolt

Second video sounds real nice. With the straight through style mufflers these motors sound so mechanical, as if you can hear every cylinder firing. I like it.

Very cliche, but sounds even better in real life

Tell me about it, parts together were less than $200. Did you mean in-cabin, windows closed or someone driving next to me? Haven’t gotten to get on 95 yet but will keep posted!

Haha I might just keep that bolt shiny instead of painting it; meme worthy. But yes I love it, a good ol true V8 doesn’t need insane exhaust mods to hear it’s beauty.. long live the 4.7s!! :bananadance:

How is the drone at highway speeds? I’m thinking about this setup but I don’t want a very loud drone…

I think there is always some risk of drone with aftermarket exhaust despite what people say. I went with a muffler from Spintech and it sounds really good but there is some drone around 2k RPM. I can usually get over it by adjusting my MPH up or down a little.

Here is the video I uploaded.
