I noticed this morning that my daily driver IS350 wasn't putting out the light it normally does. Sure enough, one bulb is out.

Go to the local parts store, and they give me the wrong bulbs (at this point, I didn't know they were HID's). I came home and tore my front end apart and found out they were HID's. Went back to the parts store, 175.00 each. I couldn't believe it. Out of habit, I call the Lexus Dealership (sometimes...they are actually cheaper) and got a 227.00 each cost. I just laughed, and at this point might tape a LED flashlight up front.

I did a little research, and couldn't believe where I purchased them from at a really good price.

    Home Depot online. 48.00+tax.

I read a bunch of reviews, and these are Philips original bulbs and customers have really had good luck with them.

I just do not see 227.00 each with these bulbs, and Lexus wanted 407.00 to install them. Wow...

Good find at Home Depot. Yeah, I'm praying they don't ever go out on mine...they're LEDs though, so hopefully I'm good....

and if one is out when I get home tonight, I'll be cursing that I ever posted this :censored:

I own a body shop and some of the prices of replacement parts is just crazy, I was at a Paint class and was talking w a tech from an Audi stealership, and one of the new Audis that is running the LED headlights the cost of the headlight assy is real close to $5000 a piece, god forbid your rear end someone in that a pair of headlights, bumper cover, grille and maybe a hood you be like $20,000 just in parts no labor or paint work........ that's just insane

They figured if you drive a Lexus, you can afford it, which is probably why they're so high.

Dealer prices are always ridiculously high! Not sure about authenticity of the Home Depot Bulbs though. Theres a huge difference in output between real OEM bulbs and fake. Chances are you will see much less performance from those than the OEM bulbs that came with your car. Morimoto bulbs would probably be as bright as your OEM bulbs.

Most companies have fake reviews on their products especially Amazon and Ebay. When you get the new bulbs (if you decide to keep them), put one OEM bulb in and one of the Home depot bulbs in and compare the brightness. You will know for sure then.

Also, it might not actually be your bulb that went out. Could be your OEM Ballast that actually went out. I believe those are located inside the headlights on your model. Don't know if you have warranty but if so that part should be covered under Manufactures warranty.

Also, Lexus uses Koito Bulbs and Matsushita Ballasts for their vehicles. .

Thanks for the heads up. It's the bulb. I switched sides and verified.

I did read some more into the HD reviews and went on some Lexus sites. Looks like they are the OEM Philips bulbs.

I'll keep you posted on what happens with the new bulb.

Nice. I started racing Hare Scrambles when I was 10 in District 6 on the other side of the state. Moved to Motocross two years later. I am actually planning to do a H.S. next year. I need more seat time though, 2 hrs will smoke me!

A little of this and a little of that.
I had a ballast on one of my Lexus' go out 6 months before it got totaled. I thought it was the bulb but after taking it to the mechanics he confirmed it was the ballast. I wonder if Lexus has some type of problem with their ballasts. Not the only one this has happened to.

About $600 for the part and install. That wasn't a Lexus dealership either, but was a Lexus branded ballast.....

Thanks. I will be pissed if that is the issue. If it is, some retrofit lights will be going in.

I installed the one replacement HID bulb today.

So, time will tell, but I'm pretty happy on that 50.00 fix vs the alternative. Packaging came in Phillips OEM box.

Kinda off track a bit I did an oil change this week on a 2015 Ferrari California, Guy took it to a dealer they wanted, get this $1100 for an oil/filter change, I told him I can do it for $650 he was tickled
12 quarts of syn. oil and a filter that looks like your basic fram filter except its black and has the Ferrari symbol on it, had to special order it of course $78 for it and $125 for the oil
18 bolts to remove the belly pan,So how does the dealer equate $1100 for that RIIIIIIIIIIP off !

If you can afford a Ferrari, you can afford $1100 for an oil change is what they figured.

I'm currently looking at is250's.... I may be picking up a commuter car but AWD is a must. No Toyota's fit the bill as I'm not a fan of the Matrix AWD. I want to go with a car, not an SUV. I prefer to stay in the Toyota family.

It will have to be like an 07ish with some miles.

Looking forward to another project haha.
