Thanks! I dont know the start date yet. They have you go thru the ringer before they tell you. Im sitting here this morning waiting on the physical test. Then next week I have the medical they give. And of course they are doing the background and employment verification. Ill be happy to start whenever!

    These showed up....

now i just need to decide on coilovers and rear shocks. Fat Bobs are tempting because of the price, but i really wanted remote res on all four.

You can slide the anchors around to hold things in the bed. Really just so things don't come flying out. You can use factory anchors or make your own to slide in the rails with the right size washers and bolts. The pics below aren't of my truck but it will give you an idea.

This is a Tacoma below, but you get the idea
    [IMG]

I saw a guy that mounted a toolbox flush with the bed so it wouldn't show over the bed. It slid on the rails. It's pretty handy if you ask me. Look at csuviper's build page at his d-rings he installed in his bed. With those and the rail system, you could pretty much hold anything down.

There is a member, relentless, that makes tabs and things for the bed rail system too.

    The next steps.

You guys are going to start thinking I work for fat bobs as much as I've mentioned them... I don't! But I do have a plan.

My overall suspension changes will go in 2 steps because of one real factor, money, and a little bit of flakiness on what I want exactly.

    Step 1
So far I've got fat bobs coilovers, LR uca's, coachbuilder +3 shackles, poly bushings and his shims that give .5 inch lift on each side. This is the first step to my lift. I will be able to set the coilovers at 3 inches to keep the ride from being harsh, but have 3.5 inches (possibly 3.25 depending on looks) of lift up front and 1.5 in the rear. I'll just run the stock rear shocks for now. It will give me a chance to see just how much improvement the shackles and polys give the rear. I plan on using spacers with my wheels for now and possibly getting different wheel when I go to step two.

    Step 2
My final plan involves rebuildable shocks and coilovers with remote reservoirs and compression adjusters. However........ I wanted to see what the fat bobs would be like, especially since I paid less than 500 bucks for them. For sure I will be getting the rears with remotes and compression adjusters, because I tow and use my bed to haul heavy loads and like the idea of being able to adjust the rear to what I'm doing at the time. As for the front... My plan is to upgrade to the icon, but I though, what if I run the fat bobs and love them? If I do, I'll just keep them and only upgrade the rear. If I think I just can't live without the front icons, I'll upgrade them and sell the bobs for the price of a spacer lift to some deserving chap here on the forum. I'll be waiting for the next big sale for purchasing the rear icons, but will wait exactly a year to buy the fronts......

Let me tell you guys, Black Friday and cyber Monday are the time to buy suspension and other things for your trucks. I was just sure I was going to do kings all the way around, but I got to talking with a shop based out of Nevada and I'm now more convinced I'm going to go with icon all the way around. The reason for this is the IVD coating and that icon now offers dealers the option of a 700 pound spring. I ruled them out before because I thought you could only get a 600 pound spring. This is what a vendor (won't say who) had originally told me. Anyway, this shop in Nevada for cyber Monday would have done a 700 pound spring, remote res on all four shocks and compression adjusters, all icon for 2300 dollars! That's a hell of a discount on icons especially with compression adjusters... I didn't pull the trigger on it though because I didn't feel peace about it. With things in my life changing I felt I should hold off on dropping all that cash.

Ok, well aren't you fine people glad I have so much to say...? Ha. I don't use Facebook or social media except for being a member here and the (not so friendly) other tundra forum. So I guess I save up all my thoughts for one big word vomit session.:der:

Haha I'm not on "the Facebook" either. Sounds like a great plan. Can't wait to see it. Now you have another 12 months to re-think it over, haha.

Still haven't had a chance to put my lift on. Just got off working twelve 10-12 hour days in a row and going back for overtime this week.

Hey Trucky, what welding process are you using at your job? Been welding for 20+ years and love it. I work for the Navy (Civilian) DOD. I taught welding here at our local college for 5 years.

We use 7018 rods. Most of what I'm welding is half inch. At home. I mainly use the mig part of my machine, but I like it keep practice with tig as often as I can. 20 years! That's a lot of experience!

Tig is where it's at, cleaner and very little fire , unless you forget to turn your argon on, ha ha. That's cool man, have burned many of 7018, now it's mostly automated or free hand Tig. If you ever have any questions or whatever I will try to help. Turn and Burn brother⚡

After months of looking at different rims, I finally bought a set. I think they compliment my truck perfectly. It was a rough go with discount tire, well one store anyway. After my second trip to them, I changed stores and got some folks that knew what they were doing. Next up, lift and tires.

I'll update my original post with rim info and pictures just as soon as it stops pouring rain!

@Bob I received my black tundras.com sticker the other day. Thank you! Lately the railroad has me working like a dog, so I just need some time to pick a spot, clean it and instal! Still have a complete lift in my shop that's been waiting on me to instal it since the first of the year.

Could you give me a little more info on your intake gasket without screen mod? Where did you get it and how hard is it to change? Also you notice any difference with the trd air accelerator?

It may have helped throttle response... And that's a big may! Ha. I wanted my factory cold air intake as similar to the try intake as possible. The reason I replaced the gasket was because of the whistle I was getting with an aftermarket air filter. But in the end, I found anything other than the stock paper filter dropped the low end torque. The way I have it set up right now seems to be the best for my truck. The part number is above the pic in my original post.

If I had it to do all over, I would have just left everything with the cai stock. Toyota pretty much has it dialed in.

So you think it's better to run the stock filter over the k&n?
