Weather app

I don't have XM and the free access ended long time ago but even when my phone is not connected, I get the weather info.

Is the weather app under main menu free or will it end after 5 years? Is it a Toyota thing?

Our other car gets weather through XM so I was surprised to see the weather channel in Tundra since I did not renew the xm for my Tundra.

 

It pulls the data through your phone

 

It works even without my phone!
I was playing with the menus the other day and my phone was off inside charging and the weather was still working. My xm has also expired.

 

Is this a JBL only thing?

 

I don't have JBL. Just the regular stereo and Nav that came with limited model.

 

Looks like it’s part of the Entune system that is USA only.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like when in HD Radio range, data comes via HD Radio and if out of range, it use entune and your cell phone to get the data.

That was my first thought.
When I had my stock Entune, I know it received weather info from an HD signal..
The ONLY thing I miss about the Entune..
