What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Who has done their front diff juice? I know some run a hose down from the top, others pump it in? What's the easiest way. My transfer case and front diff is due for new fluid soon.

Last time I used

$39 75W-90 GL-5 Limited Slip, Ultra Long Drain 500k Miles, Manual Transmission, Gear/Differential Lubricant (1 Gallon)

75W-90 Royal Purple. There is probably a cheaper option...?

 

I think the hose from the top sounds like the best idea so far. Also, I need to do these but since I’m stupid, I really don’t know which are fill/drain plugs

 

Harbor freight has a 6 dollar transfer pump, use it and throw it away. Easy to use under the truck with the tubing provided

 

dropped the bumper today and installed the winch onto the bumper. Not sure how I'm going to mount the solenoid just yet but the biggest challenge is going to be lifting this beast back on. My wife and I got it off but there's no way we're getting it back on and lined up but I'll figure it out!!

Everything. Big chunk is done so far. Trying to decide what I’m doing for door lights now (is using the bigger manual window door pockets with the power window center so there’s no door light, I’ll probably use button style leds along the bottom edge2-3 of them

 

I do it for a living. My fear of dashes went away when Toyota did the warranty extension on camrys, Avalon’s and 4runners + siennas.. I’ve done a ton of dashes

 

Nothing to Fancy got LEDs, makes the truck look cleaner imo.

These trucks dashes are super simple. No harnesses attached or anything. It’s a breath of fresh air for me. The last dash I did at work was a 2019 Avalon. Man there’s a lot going on there

That or throw a jack under it with a piece of wood under it and a strap around it.

 

The issue with jacking stuff is the dirt and trying to get things to balance.

I'm going to try to use my golf cart as I have the back seats that lay down. Figured I can toss it on that and it would be right at the correct height I need. If this doesn't work, I do have a huge oak tree on the other side of my yard that I can use to hoist.

Either way, there will be an update and pictures!

 

So my father-in-law has a 2000 SR5 second owner. He drives it about 10 mi a week and being on a fixed income doesn’t do much maintenance wise. I was changing oil in my 2015 so I bought him oil/filter for a change while I was at it.
After doing said maintenance I asked him when he last had the oil done. “ I dunno 2-3years.” Thankfully I swapped it to Mobil 1 and this shouldn’t happen again. No smells, no froth or gunk from the pan, just built up condensation in the crankcase I guess. I’ll check the PCV system. Any advice of what to narrow down if anything will be appreciated. Truck has 123k mi and will probably rust out before crapping out!

To work and back and grocery store. He’s a school bus driver for school about 3 mi from home. I try to ‘borrow’ it every so often to give it a run and make sure it’s safe.

 

Yea, then I'd say it's probably not a big deal...that thing needs to spend at least an hour+ on the interstate running 70+ at least once a month...

 

Installed my new lightbar. Replaced my cheapy $28 Amazon 2 row special that failed after only 4 years! Went big this time and got a $41 three row. Light output is good. Nice supplement to the weak factory brights. Painted the endcaps red. Went ahead and repainted my Toyota emblem on the grill while I was at it.

Today i put in a new head unit, its basically a 2020 tundra now! Lol

 

4 years out of a $28 unit sounds like a winner to me. I have $40-ish dollars in mine. Still going strong 3 months later. I sealed my end caps with flex shot because it came in a pressurized can and was easier to use with one shakey hand.
