Aftermarket Upper Control Arms

I’m not quite familiar with suspension components, but installation of aftermarket upper control arms on a lifted Tundra makes alignments easier?

It makes it necessary to get the alignment back in tolerance. It is different for each tundra, but somewhere around the 2 1/2 inch mark you might need them. 3 inches or more is a definite yes. Crazy enough some have gotten away without but most people need them.

 

Absolutely if you are 3” or higher you will have no issues with alignment if you put aftermarket control arms on. Definitely the way to go if you can dish out the xtra cash

 

Agree with this. 2.5” is about the maximum height you can get a reasonably good driving alignment. At 3”, you’ll get close but will constantly battle uneven tire wear issues over time and straight line tracking. At 3”, you really should invest in adjustable UCAs.

 

My truck has a 3 inch lift and the person i took it to was able to get the alignment spot on but he said that it was hard due to the suspension modifications. I figured the upper control arms would’ve probably played a role in the alignment job.

 

On these trucks, an alignment in the green does not mean it's good if its lifted. You are correct...adjustable UCA's would have made it easier. One of the most popular is the SPC. He got it driveable. But it’s certainly not an ideal alignment.

 

I went with SPC based on all the opinions here and from reviews. Truck rides better than stock. Did a 3" lift up front and 1.5" rear.

 

There is no need for adjustable UCA, JBA, BDS, TC, or any of the non adjustable will work fine.

 

Really depends on the type of lift, An example of that would be a 6 inch bracket lift, No aftermarket UCA'S required to get a good alignment.

 

I did a 3 inch spacer on my 4runner and while comfort of the ride was the same, at highway speeds it felt a little floaty. Also, you may not be able to get caster back in spec. For every 1 inch of lift you lose 1 degree of caster......per toytec. For myself I was on a budget and ride was still comfortable even with LT 33's and I rotated my tires every oil change for even wear.
