    So many factors to consider such as area of country, type of dealer (volume), blah blah blah. Here’s my purchase agreement for my 2020 SR5 CM TSS:

    83E7FC09-5405-40D0-B444-377FBC965517.jpg

    Take the $44,534 and subtract the tax ($2413), so my sale price was $42,121. Then they took an additional 3500 off in rebate, making final sale price of $38,621. No trade in. Final OTD was $41,500

    Here is the dealer sticker for the truck:
    1B0DC4E4-76BC-4E93-ADFF-51E868D7CE0B.jpg

    Sometimes used vs new is better, sometimes new vs used is better. Depends on situation and the buyers situation.

    If you guys think the new 2022 will hopefully cheaper, ya'll are crazy, haha!!! The top tier trim of Toyota is $26k less than Ram or Ford. Platinum/1794 are $54k, Ram and Ford can get up to $80k. I know they are not apples to apples and the domestics have big screen tv for radio, vibrators in the seat, etc....

    Ford is in real real trouble due to multiple things. Big part is out of control warranty claims due to all the turbos, electronics, etc....

    Toyota looks like it is going to go down that route also to compete.... I am sure they will do it better. But with the next gen release I will guaranteed my pay check for a month we will see big price increases. They know they will have to cover R&D, increased warranty claims, etc....

    SR5 = $43to $53k
    Limited = $58 to $60k
    1794/Platinum = $65k to $69k

    Mark my word

    It's only get more expensive...2022s are going to set a new high for the medium and high trim levels. The base model may be still reasonable...but who wants a base for a daily driver?

    What's scarier is I ventured to 2 local Ford dealers and looked at their inventory for larger SUV's. The Ford Expedition King Ranch's have an MSRP if $84k and on sale for $78k!

    A platinum Toyota has MSRP of $69k and on sale for $66k on local Toyota websites.

    You think the Expedition is worth $15k more?

    Sales price may be similar though, but who knows.

    Inflation. Back in the day, you could buy a brand new muscle car like a GTO, Chevelle or Mustang for well under $10,000 and grab a burger, fries and a coke on your way home for 75 cents. However, a good tradesman for example would make $6 per hour. Kids flipping burgers might make $1.25 per hour. These days, at least around here, qualified tradesmen don't even think of getting out of bed for under $30 per hour and most make alot more than that. Cost of wages goes up = cost of building stuff/providing services goes up = retail price goes up.

    It's all relative.

    I understand and agree. His argument was that the increase in the minimum wage causes an increase in the cost of a new vehicle which isn't logical. A minimum wage increase is just following your description and it's increasing along with everything else.

    Minimum wage jobs were meant to be a stepping stone to get you by until you established a career but now society wants it to be a livable wage at everyone elses expense why should my buying power decrease because people dont make a sacrifice to invest in themselves

    Speaking of inflation, that too will likely have an effect on the prices of those new 2022 model. Especially since the government just pumped a few trillion into the economy and the interest rates are at near 0. I think there will be a small window here maybe 6-8 month, where sales are weak, the finance rates are cheap, all causing some really good deals to likely be happening.

    But that has no determining factor on the price of the truck. Just your ability to buy it.

    Inflation AND standard of living increase, if they built a carbon copy of that car it would be much cheaper than one sold today.
    No airbags, backup camera, heated seats, power windows, weak unreliable A/C. Engine needs total overhaul at 100k miles, front drum brakes. There is a reason everyone back then knew how to replace a timing chain.

    Go back further and only rich people could own an automobile.

    When boomers were kids the US was decades ahead of the world winning WW2. When they entered the workforce the old timers had set up labor unions and they took over got greedy, company’s cooperated to keep growing. When growth matured at end of Cater, and stagflation, “right to work” came in, and with bankruptcies, reset the labor wage.

    From the Korean War to to Cater’s stagflation was an industrial revolution and no one identified it as such.
    And yes, times for wage earners were better then, than now, or prior to Korea, it was a moment in time some boomers only knew as reality.

    The guys building the Empire State Building were not rolling around in GTO’s or putting in swimming pools, connected boomer tradesman were.

    With rumors of the twin turbo v6 who knows if that will raise the resale value of our current trucks or not....hopefully the new tundra will have a good price point that makes it affordable but we shall see. Definitely don't want to buy the first year remodel as they will have all sorts of kinks to work out and fix

    Exactly. Take those off and with an MSRP of $47,001 and I still saved about $8400 (~18% off msrp).

    I’ve seen worse. I recently saw a 2020 SR5 CM selling for $65k bc it had blacked out bumpers and a 6” lift and some bigger tires. It’s ridiculous how they up charge for things that aren’t worth what they’re being sold for.

    this!

    cheap money is THE reason prices of trucks have gone up so much. We have kept interest rates too low for almost twenty years. When you make money easier to borrow, you have artificially increased demand for bigger purchases. That is why prices are higher
