I've been running into issues with my harness. Installed back in February but it's something that has been happening since March. My passenger side DRL and LED go out randomly (Turn signal works). I'm using eledobleu's original kit. I took everything apart and noticed that when I move the main wire harness that sits under the headlight it turns on and off, which is why the headlight goes out (Sometimes if I hit a bump it's enough movement to turn out). This means I have to pop hood, reach down, and move the wire again until it comes back on. It sounds like a short but I've checked the connections with no result and there are no issues with Driver side, it's been perfect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hoping I don't have to spend another $100 on a new harness as I've heard eledobleu has disappeared. It looks like the new harnesses don't even need a Motocontrol unit, which is pretty nice.

If I replace the turning ambers with LEDs, do I need to install resistors?
    Use amber 7443 LEDs right?

I had to redo the connectors on mine. My setup still uses the Morimoto relay harness and the seals on the Morimoto 9006 female plugs were letting moisture in causing corrosion. I removed the moto plugs and replaced them with higher quality Delphi plugs

Check the connector with the single green wire which powers the passenger LED DRL. Repairing the low beam connector, a different one, I inadvertently pulled the green one I’m referring to apart because that whole side is a bit short. Previously everything worked after the repair, just no passenger DRL.

    For others:
If only the driver LED DRL works and nothing else does, check the 15amp fuse before the Moto.

If passenger lowbeams don’t work like mine, it’s in the connector I repaired by the light assembly that houses the black, red, white and green wire. The crimps aren’t very strong, you may need to de-pin from the connector housing and solder/crimp tight again those 4 wires for good measure.

And if you haven’t bought one, go iHacker’s which has much less if any issues.

20181210_123337.jpg 20181210_113042.jpg Hello all I tried searching this thread using the search but didn't find the answer. I just installed my 2018 led headlights on my 2017 tundra limited using the headlight revolution harness which appears to be a quality harness. Everything seems to be working fine but I have one problem. When I turn on the truck just the DRL LEDs are on which is how it should be. However when i put my truck into any gear the Ambers also turn on. So that the DRL LEDs and parking lights are on while driving. Does anyone know why this is? Could it be something with the 4 pin? I did swap the white and purple plug as I was told while watching an installation video from headlight revolution. Any ideas how to fix this? I just want the DRL LEDs on when driving, not the amber as well. Thanks!

Perfect, does anyone know if this would fix my problem? My Amber factory DRLs are on all the time along with the DRL LEDs. I want to just have the DRL LEDs on, not the Amber lights. Would removing the purple from the 3 pin amber connector fix the problem, or would this cause any harm to my truck? Thank you.

Looking for some help. I purchased a set of 2018 lights and the original morimoto harness from a forum member. Everything is working but I would like the drl to dim when the headlights are on. Anyone have an easy way to hook up a relay to make this happen since I have the first gen harness.

I’m having the same issue with my HeadlightRevolution harness. I ran the fuse tap to the fuse box and the LED DRLs are on and in full bright mode. If I remove the gray wire from the plug would the turning light stop working as wel?

Well since no one responded I figured it out and did some research. So what you need to do it go under the dash and disconnect the THIN grey wire and the amber light will go off for DRL only but still work as normal such as blinkers and it will dim while headlights are in use. There is a couple videos on YouTube on how to do this just do a quick search.

Thank you @Meltz dor that information. Would this gray wire need to be hooked up to some kind of a relay or just de-pin it from the harness? I’ve looked on YouTube but could not find the right video for this just how to remove the headlights.

No it does not need to be hooked up to anything else, just depin it but make sure you secure it with some electrical tape to prevent it from causing any problems. Here is the video I used.

I also did the LED upgrade on my ‘17 Limited Crewmax Tundra using iHackers harness and the Morimotto Control harness and have had nothing but problems since putting it in. The first controller cracked the first cold WI night. They sent me a new one under warranty. I have been having problems on/off for 7 months with the driver’s side low beam working at complete randomness. My Toyata Dealership tested it and said that it should be working but pointed out the flashing led in the corner. I finally sent some videos to The Retrofit Store and have been working with Jimmy to resolve my issue. I decided I would do the Retrofits Stores plug & play. Jimmy gave me a sweet deal & I installed the connections very easily last night and the headlights work just fine. The only problem was he didn’t send the LED DRL wire connection so that is in the mail today but my truck is still apart. Lol

iHacker made up a nice wire harness but for whatever reason my issues have become such a pain that I ripped all that out and am doing the simple Plug/Play LED lights just like my buddy did in his 2016 with no issues.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience, some people contacted me having similar problems and after some troubleshooting they decided to ditch the Motocontrol, not sure why some fail prematurely. I had my Motocontrol first powering a set of Retrofits in my truck then I just kept it in my truck for the LED headlights and never let me down worked flawlessly for me 3 years then sold the retros including the Motocontrol and still working like a champ.

My new harness do not need the Motocontrol anymore, we just used that for the first 5-6 months after the LED headlights release.

does anyone have an OEM LED set they would like to sell? im on the fence about this upgrade. My 2014 OEMs work pretty good after going threw 4 sets of LEDs to find one with minimum glare and a nice cut off.

Get off the fence and do it. There is no comparison, and I have had both. LED bulbs in the incandescent housing help about 20% (I did this on my 2014). The OEM LED headlights are 150% better than the OEM incandescents (I have the 2019 TRD Pro headlights on my 2017). This upgrade might be the single best mod on a pre 2018 Tundra. Easily worth the cost, and the available plug and play harness makes it ridiculously easy.

Is it possible to make the drl strips amber instead of white? How hard would it be to do?

What harness did you go with? I’ve got a ‘17 TRD Pro. Stock headlights got scuffed up during hail damage repair so ideal time to swap out with the LED kit. Just looking for easiest simple setup.

    let me know, appreciate it!

I would like to hear more about how you guys dealt with this.

I bought the Headlight Revolution plug and play harness. But my 2016 SR5 does not have the 4-pin plug to accept their connection. So, my LED "halo" DRLs do not come on. Everything else is working great.

What's the SIMPLEST way I can make my LED DRLs work?

    Hello folks,
So some nice guy stole my 2019 tundra crewmax limited and the police found it in a ditch. Many many items missing along with the headlights. I have since bought used 2019 headlights. There are several plugs that I know where they attach but one plug which has 8 prongs and I can’t figure out where this one goes. Please help. Thanks.
