Regular Cab Long Bed (RCLB) - Let's see them!!

I bought a 2000 RCLB new. Great truck but brake problems that year. I unbolted the shell and backed another new 2006 under it in 2006. I missed having a dipstick for the transmission, though. I have 350,000 miles experience driving first gen RCLB Tundras and would love to buy a brand new one today. My favorite tire size : LT245/75R16 6pr. I would pay more for a RCLB than an access cab. It's more truck for the money, IMHO. You get a solid B post to slam the door on and you can carry plywood and lumber. A couple of times I've even stuffed a bull Elk back there and closed the shell up to keep the wolves off until the butcher opened up on Monday!

 

Nice, V6 or V8?

I run 215/85-16 tires on steel wheels if my winter is forecast to be cold & snowy, basically the same height as what you run just not as wide.

 

Mine is a V8. I like tall narrow tires and think low profile tires are a childish fashion. I found out that 245-75- 16 tires are a very common size. I have two sets of steel wheels, summer and winter. When I bought the truck, I pulled off the hub caps and threw them in the dumpster.

They are like tic tacs aren't they? One is in the shop getting its timing belt and water pump changed out, 04 w/120K on it.
Here is another one, 05 with 13K miles on it. It likes the sunshine I guess.

 

Wow, the paint on that one is excellent. You don't see that very often with white ones. Someone took care of that one.You should repaint that front bumper trim black. It will look like a new truck!

 

It is great paint--I just gotta keep others from hitting it as got a scratch in the door already from....something/somewhere.
The owner was an elderly guy in FL....thus the low miles. At least he didn't drive it into bus stops......

 

Oh cool. I didn't even catch the miles, I was so distracted by the paint. Even though it only has 13k miles, I would consider changing the timing belt. Toyota says every 90k or 9 years.

 

Wow, that's one sweet Tundra! I love it. I see that it's a V8 and assuming its 4x4.

 

Yup, going to do the timing belt when the other one comes back.

V8, but 2x4. I've long been a fan of 2x4 single cab pick ups as I can get the best bang for the buck with that. Also I need an 8' bed, so with newer vehicles, that's not available in quad cabs due to length and the extended cab isn't worth the extra money for me. I'll stick a topper on this one and keep the toolbox on the other so I'll have a place to put groceries, etc.

Sweet setup! Those split spoke wheels look great on these trucks. Rock Auto sells them recon'd. Where did you acquire yours?

They were new take-offs from a Sequoia at the time.

The other thing that I am learning again the hard way is how much better I like the French Doors on the Shell vs the Tailgate and flip window.
I am just a lot closer to to the tools with the doors and it takes a big adjustment to have to reach past the gate to even the start of the bed.

I am sure I will end up ordering a different shell when I can afford to wait and pay for it.

I don't miss having the tailgate in my way when I need to move items in & out of the bed.

This is a really interesting option for the rear door,I will admit that I never really thought twice about it before but this one is starting to grow on me?
I think it would be great for camping too!

FB is an odd creature, I mainly use it to promote my two businesses and join & create private groups of interest. I can do without the rest of it though.
