I was worried that'd happen to me. I disabled the valve, can't recommend that though 'cause It's potentially dangerous. But, since you fixed it once and know what the problem is, maybe a stealership can repair/replace your tank under warranty?

Like several have said , your charcoal canister is most likely saturated, the vent tube connects to it directly from the filler neck , when the canister is saturated it’s basically like blocking of the vent hose , when you fill your truck with fuel the air in the tank displaced by the fuel has no where to go and causes positive pressure kicking the filler hand to kick off !

If it the roll over valve it might be under the emissions related component warranty??

He already dropped his tank, popped the valve open and fixed the problem once. Given the age of his truck, the fact that he doesn't "top off", and the fact that the valve failure is a known problem, it's very unlikely the canister is fouled. I'd say it's the valve again and hopefully Toyota will fix it.

You would think that would fall under an emissions related components

Right??? I took my truck in and they denied me warranty work. OK, my local dealership is criminally bad..... I do mean criminal. And, my truck is truck is modified beyond what people recognize here in NorCal. But it's still, in my mind, it's part of the emissions system and I now know of a dozen or so trucks that have had this issue.
I agree with you, Toyota should fix it.

What would nice is if they could redesign the part so you could just replace it for a $100 instead of a new fuel tank for a $1000

How many miles do you have @831Tun ?

It surprised me a little, I think I have this right - emissions warranty is only 80k on our Tundras?

I’m pretty sure they are claiming it’s not an emissions related part , since it’s the fuel tank and not related to the evap system directly . Any evap system parts would be considered emissions components! That’s my educated guess .

So OP could have issues yes being he has new parts installed. Had he not just thrown parts at it, he would have had a much better chance being covered. Maybe he should throw all his original shit back on and take it in, obviously provided he falls under warranty still.

Post was also for @831Tun as he appears to be having warranty issues.

It’s possible maybe if he did that and went to a different dealer ?? Hell who knows . Toyota’s are hands down one of the best manufacturers on the planet but at the end of the day there bottom line may make you a causality!

Mine has been serviced at Toyota dealerships only. Brought it in when it was one month over the 36 month warranty, but under in miles. They said they wouldn’t cover it, but also couldn’t replicate the problem. 6 months later it popped its ugly head up again.

I’m about ready to start searching scrap yards.
