MEVOTECH UCA'S Same as SPC

how much are they ?

 

I bought the spc older design... They have been great. Aft 100k miles, I swapped out the ball joints with greasable ones. But there are videos online showing how to grease the ones without fittings.

 

^This! If any of you get the old design, just shimmy off that little retainer at the top of the boot and you can pack it with some heavy duty grease. I installed the non greasable SPC arms/joints a couple weeks ago on a first gen. I was curious, so I slipped the boot down and there was plenty of grease in it already. I would definitely do all my checking and greasing before they’re installed.

 

Idk if anyone has actually ordered through rockauto to confirm. I was going to do this upgrade soon but i my upgrade will be pushed back a few months due to this economic slowdown

 

Well, I might buy them from rock auto to inspect them. They have a pretty decent return policy

 

For you second and third gen folks, I did a search on eBay and found a seller with almost 20,000 feedback and 99.7% positive reviews selling the SPC 25490. If what they are selling is the product (upgraded joints) in the photo, I would say it’s a heck of a deal. Might want to email them to make sure.

I think ive seen that listing before, it doesn’t indicate that it’s SPC-branded so its probably mevotech (or comparable). But if rock auto is cheaper and very reputable, id personally still go through rock auto.

 

I’m going to give rock auto a whirl and let you guys know.

Definitely interested to see the outcome if you pull the trigger with rock auto.

Someone did post a 5% off somewhere. Cant recall where. I tried it when i first started looking into this and the code still worked.

Theres freedom offroad to like $340 for a set theres not a ton of people that have them but enough and they all say no issues maybe something to look into if you’re trying to save cash

I did a little searching and found a deal on the tuff country ball joint style UCA. It says they’ll fit the current tundras starting in 07. The screen shot is from suspension connection, with the SAFARI5 discount applied. The tax will vary depending on what region you’re in.

 

Thats a killer price for tubular uppers. Im still going with SPCs or mevotech because i want the alignment flexibility.

down side was that the coupon code listed on the first page did not work.

Rock auto has a horrible website that does not allow you to try/apply a coupon before finalizing the order. So I was not aware the coupon did not work until after the transaction went through. cost me about $20 extra so

You put Rock Auto coupons in the box that asks how did you hear about us. Always shows the discount for me before I check out.

 

yes I know and I did that.

what I meant was that you cannot see the coupon applied before you submit payment.

you can even try to apply the coupon after you submit payment on a pending order, and I did that.

Sorry it didn't work for you, but that is incorrect.

Once you enter the code, you see the discount right above the the total. If you entered a non-valid code that's why you didn't see everything. They change the discounts codes every month. All you have to do it Google "Rock Auto discount code" and you'll find one. I've never placed an order with 5% off.

Maybe give them a call and see if they can knock off 5% for you and credit you the money back. Just say you were having a problem entering a code, but be prepared to give them a valid one if they ask for it.

No it isn't. But they always have an active discount code. Just search on Google and you'll find one. Retailmenot.com always shows the most recent ones.

 

Well I guess my complaint is that they don’t tell you the code in not valid.

There is a spot to place a coupon code after you make a transaction and it states that they will send you an updated invoice with coupon code applied if it is still valid.

but they don’t tell you that it is not valid.

 

I didnt actually purchase the UCA’s, and it showed working when i tried to get my quote. I had to enter all my shipping info and was on the payment portion of the transaction when it finally showed. Not trying to debate this though, maybe the system was glitching out when u were trying to do your order.

any who, did you find a valid code to work for u while it was still pending?

 

Maybe site was acting up or maybe because I did everything on my phone using the mobile version and not the desktop.

I wasn’t able to find a code because they shipped the order too damn fast! If that’s a complaint

they should be arriving today via fed ex. I’ll post pics when they come.
I’m just hoping they are the first gen SPCs like someone posted earlier.

I was looking for a budget friendly UCA as both my upper ball joints are bad after 75k miles and a slight 6112 lift.

 

the only time someone could complain about something shipping too quick lol.

Hope the order is the new version! Either way its still a good price for a good product

 

well I think I have great news to report.

I just opened by box from rock auto. the mevotech are SPC arms.

they look identical, have the SPC part number on them 25490(201), its says SPC on the bushings AND they are SPC grease-able ball joints!

a quick google of the patent number etched on them

comes back to parent company of SPC, NIWOT corporation, based out of longmont, CO same as SPC
