I'm a big fan of Griots products.....and the G9 will likely be my next DA when I trade my Griots GG6 in on one. If you're looking that way, pick one up along with a 5" backing plate (helps with pad rotation as this is a free spinning DA). Combine that with some Griots BOSS pads, Correcting Cream and Perfecting Cream and you have a relatively foolproof system for taking care of those imperfections

For a while tundra, 5 heavier and 5 light polishing pads should get you through, maybe more. If you won't do the truck all in one day you can get less and wash and dry for the next day. For just some spots maybe 2 of each. Idk griot's colors but for lake country I would get orange and black

Then go with LC pads, the HDO version if you can, orange and black will work. Or get a handful of the buff and shine urofibers.
I like carlro clear cut compound and essense polish but you can get anything really, griot's creams are supposed to be great. Or megs, or well most anything detailed image sells lol

Per a couple days ago from this page, I decided to go ahead and order the Cerakote ceramic trim coating. Applied it today to my steps, my trim behind windshield wipers, the small black pieces on the bed at bottom right behind the cab, and did my exhaust tip as well. The exhaust tip is a textured black like the parts of the step bars that aren't plastic. If it does well on the exhaust tip, then I'll do all the step bars. But as of now, just the plastic "steps" pads on the bars. Went on really easy, consistent, had no harsh smell, and came with the 2 pairs of black gloves to wear while applying it. The wipes are white, and it made the trim pop immediately. I let it sit for an hour and it has no greasy feel to them at all! It claims to last for 200 washes or more, so we shall see how it holds up. It does warn that it's not a dressing, but a coating. Hopefully it slows down the harm that the damaging UV rays do to those parts that appear to fade the easiest and fastest. Time will tell! Thanks again for posting it here @Istvank11 . A lil before and after photo as well.

I just picked up the Griot's Correcting Cream, will try it out soon with 6 orange LC pads. I wanna try my megs black liquid wax with my black LC pads and see how topping the wax with beadmaker after the wax cures. I know wax is always last, but the feel of beadmaker is something dreams are made of

If you can, get a pad brush or use an air compressor and clean the pad after every pass. This will help extend the use if you don't wanna invest in 5+ pads.

I see a lot of people promoting Detailed Image here.

So far my experience hasn't been that great. I ordered about $200 worth of supplies, towels, some pads for my polisher, CarPro cquartz 50ml with reload, etc. One item was back ordered, but all was supposed to ship about a week later on 04/17 (today). Didn't ship today, now the expected shipping date is next week. The only reason I didn't order from Amazon in the first place is because the expected ship date was 04/17 and I figured waiting for next weekend instead of this weekend for this project would be fine.. Now I'll be waiting until the weekend after that..?

I was suckered in by a 20% off sale that was a "ONE DAY SALE."

The next day they had another 20% off sale, then an Easter sale, and now you can get 20% off for spring. Seems like everything is just always 20% off there?

Is there another reputable site that has a modern website and faster shipping?

I use Autogeek and have never had an issue. Great prices and if you just google "Autogeek coupon code," there is almost always a code that works (or use the Honey app). I've never ordered from there with less than 15% off my order. I think "welcome15" is the most recent one working lately. Plus they run specials on specific products from time to time. Typically ships the next business day after my purchase and arrives 4-5 days later (was quicker before this Coronavirus mess, more like 3 days later).

Not at all. It's a ceramic coating, not a dressing. Dressings are typically slick(especially the oil based ones, but water based ones can have silicas in them making them slick too). I have been in and out of my truck multiple times utilizing the step and it isn't greasy. Surprised the hell out of me, but after reading the guy before me do it, then previous reviews on Amazon, I decided to give it a shot and as of now, extremely happy I did!

How much work are you wanting to do? If you want to just wash and wax, chemical guys honeydew is a good soap. I've used to meguiars black wax, it's nice, easy on easy off with some nice shine.

If you are wanting to spend some quality time, I would suggest getting Iron X, clay bar, carpro Hydro2, P&S beadmaker. That's my current go to for a nice detail minus any paint correction. Included was some Shine Supply Wise Guy for tire cleaner, P&S brake buster for the wheels and waxaddict Tyre feeder for the tire shine.

Pic is after several days of light paint correction with a DA polisher and everything mentioned above

I give you props for buying a black vehicle.....its not a color, its a lifestyle. Unfortunately, there's no 'best'. When I started legitimately detailing our vehicles 3 years ago, I bought more than I needed and could ever use. As Bust said, a lot depends on how far you want to go. Answer that question, and wait for the avalanche of advice.

X2 on Autogeek...although I've never had a bad experience with Detailed Image either. Autogeeks sales have slowed down due to the Covid-19 situation, as they've been dealing with reduced staff and some of their suppliers shutting down. I do not pay full price there, either, and their sales can go as high as 25% off. I've had a couple of times when I've had to reach out to customer service, and theirs is top shelf.

Theres a thread in the detailing section here......and it gives some very good advice.....with the exception of using Dawn to strip old wax. I've tried it, and seen too much other evidence that this simply doesn't work, unless the wax is already degraded, or you wash it over and over and over. If you've been using a carnuba wax, Mother Nature and your cay bar step will take car of whatever's left. Carnuba simply doesn't last that long. Read through the thread...I think you'll find it helpful

got a chance to run the G9 today with the Nanoskin Autoscrubber and man that was easy! I learned a lot about stopping with it on the paint vs picking it up too early. I read where a lot people saying it caused marring of the paint. I never had that experience and I used it on the wife's white Avalon.

can't wait for the pads to show up later this week.

I love the autoscrub pad but it can definitely cause some marring. If I am gonna polish a car I will use it, also on the roof and lower areas ill use it. Works great

I used Mr. Pink all last year and enjoyed it but it is sold out at my regular source. What should I try this time? I'm using the 2 bucket method, no foam cannon for what it's worth.

I also need suggestions on carpet and upholstery cleaners.

This is where I buy my stuff mostly if you wanna peek at the brands I have available:

Amazon has it if you were wanting to keep using. I used the honeydew, I really like it. Use in my foam cannon and in bucket.

Amazon for the suds. Or Autogeek / Detailed Image.

As for carpet, I use this stuff called Biokleen Bac Out. Have not met a smell or stain it wasnt able to break down. I also use their detergent in my carpet extractor and a homemade blend for super tough stains I can DM you or post here if folks are interested.

Carpro Reset is available on that site. Hands down the best soap on the market in my opinion. Carpro Reload, Jescar Powerlock, and P&S Beadmaker are also favorite sealants of mine that are available on the site.

As for carpet and upholstery, Shine Supply has the best options, but not available on that site. You may check and see how much shipping would cost from them. Our 10% forum discount may offset it.
