4 wheel drive issues

I gotta question..
2015 SR5 Tundra.. by the book, I put it in 4H it just blinks at me. Push in and turn it to 4 Lo it beebs and 4H still blinking.. understanding it will not engage in 4lo un less 4 h was engaged first.. ok.. I hear it engaging in 4hi but still blinks. Tried the roll up a few feet and reverse idea...nothing changes.. GET THIS.. I can leave the dial in 4Hi turn the key off.. restart the truck and see that 4hi is engaged.. I can do the off and on thing in 4lo .. and 4 lo is engaged then I can turn the dial to 4hi , it works.. turn it to 2wd then back to 4hi...same crap...it blinks. Yes I'm allowing time in between switching the dial.. can anyone PLEASE explain this to me?? Thanks in advance.

 

You should only be going from 2hi to 4hi when rolling ..preferably at least 15mph. Then when in 4hi you can only go into 4lo when completely stopped and while shifted into neutral. Any other way will break your transfer case over time.

Soo...I cant go into 4lo in neutral after start up.. I got go about 15 mph in 4hi first??

After start up I put it in neutral turn the dial to 4lo with my foot on the brake and all I get is beeping and 4hi flashing.. I've sat there for minutes..

My 17 will shift in to 4 hi at a dead stop or rolling. 4 lo does require me to be at a dead stop to shift in and out of 4 lo. When I first shift in to 4 hi it blinks a few times and then goes solid.

But I'm having some kind of issue..

Also in the manual it says to drive 10 miles monthly in 4wd to lubricate the system. From 2wd to 4hi you need to be below 60mph, I’ve switched from a dead stop to moving. try going forward or reverse to let it lock in if it doesn’t at first try. 4lo you have to stop, put it in neutral then turn from 4hi to 4lo, same process to go back to 4hi.

How often do you activate 4wd on your truck?

 

Mine would flash a little too long before engaging then it started making a noise when it would engage. Replaced 4WD actuator.

 

I believe there’s a YouTube video on the proper steps for engaging your 4WD system. I recall 4hi you must be below 62 mph if you choose to engage on the fly. In the video I believe it says to accelerate and let off the gas and repeat until the 4-hi light is solid. Let me see if I can find the video for you.

This isn't true. You can do this without issue, but you can also go from 2HI to 4HI while stopped without issue.
