This being Easter weekend amid a pandemic, and it’s pouring rain here in SoCal (where it ‘never rains’) for the 4th day in a row, I find myself counting my blessings:

    1. Our small, affordable house hasn’t leaked, from the roof or foundation; it’s warm in here and we have enough of everything we need.

    2. We were able to buy and assemble a huge freestanding basketball hoop in our backyard before the hoops at our local park were removed— so my son can practice every day, and is not idle or depressed while stuck at home.

    3. So far we are healthy, which has always been our greatest gift!

** What are you currently feeling especially grateful about?

So thankful I’m still working. They put us on a three day work week schedule but I’m still paid 100% salary. I’m working Monday Tuesday Wednesday and the other half of the crew are working Wednesday Thursday Friday.
At the moment everyone in my household is healthy as well as the family members I haven’t been able to see in a while.

    I am thankful for:
    1. Being able to spend more time with my family. My son is home from college doing online classes. My daughter is in high school so she was still home, but now she is home all day doing online classes. Overall we can spend more time together.
    2. I am able to work from home so the paycheck is not interrupted. My wife is a physical therapist so she is also considered essential and still works also.
    3. We are still healthy.
    4. We are able to get all the supplies/groceries that we need so we are not going without anything important.

I'm truly grateful for being retired. All of the family and friends are doing well and those with jobs are still employed.
These are really tough times and I'm wishing everyone all the best in getting over all the hurdles put before them. Be safe.

    1. Health for sure
    2. Both my wife and I not only have jobs but are busy as crap.
    3. Son is healthy and well. :)
    4. Getting a TON of honeydew list stuff done!
    5. Dad taught me well, so we were 'prepped' (if you get my drift) way before this. No panic buying on our end.
    6. I have a freakin' SWEET new '20 Tundra CrewMax. Awh yeah.

Idk...I am probably most grateful that I haven't had to fill up the Tundra for three weeks, and I still have over half a tank.

Also thankful my job is unaffected, and my wife's employer has chosen to pay her as normal, even though no one can work at her place of employment.

And that we have kick-ass neighbors with whom we have been quarantining.

yeah it's always good to count blessings. for me, always good to give credit where it's due - i'm thankful to God for everything.

    1. ditto on health. was undergoing some tests, doc saw something unrelated and after a biopsy i'm negative. freakin scary last 6 months.
    2. have a job, we have food and shelter - able to help some others too
    3. capable wife, in army for 12yrs, drill sergeant bad@ss; if this pandemic gets out of hand and something jumps off getting past me my kids should be ok - mama bear literally)
    4. still have my mom
    5. eldest got into a good private college and earned an academic scholarship cause she's smarter than i am
    6. wife lets me mod without checking with her...that's only because of #2, would never mod if i didn't have family covered

we watched contagion last night which is different but kind of the same of what's happening. opened my eyes even more of what could be.

    stay healthy and safe.

Thanks for this thread. Great idea Sunny.

    1. I'm thankful for my health and that of my family.

    2. Thankful for the beautiful corner of the world we call home. Great house on 5.5 acres of nice land. This is prompting us to do some things we've been meaning to do for several years like having a garden this year.

    3. As others have mentioned, I'm thankful to have what we need; food, shelter, etc.

    4. More time to spend with family. You can't put a pricetag on this. The kids are only young once. We've been taking a lot of family walks on our nice quiet road.

Stay healthy and safe out there everyone. Have a great Easter weekend!

    Hi all,

    1) Most importantly thankful for the health of my family, and myself!! We are blessed to live in a state with low numbers!!! (I honestly think I already had this back in February before we really knew it was here! Antibody test in a month to find out)

    2) I feel blessed to have toilet paper, Scotts too, which is septic safe. I am thankful I had just bought a family size pack at BJs before all the panic buying started! (some of you guys may not understand since you don't need it every time, but trust me it's a blessing)

3). I am grateful to work as a paramedic with the ability to help those who are suffering, and to have an uninterrupted pay check. While most people might be thankful to not have to go to work, I truly love my job and have never dreaded a day on the job, even more so now! I am a nurse as well, but some are getting laid off etc, so I am glad I chose to stay on the boo boo bus, for now anyway.

4). Grateful to live in awesome home with a woodsy area with many acres of conservation land with trails right outside my back door, they are a joy to have all the time, but more so now (if it would just stop raining!)!

I hope you all have a very Happy, healthy, and blessed Easter and Passover!

    -T.

    1) The Woman. She keeps me grounded and sane.

    2) My hands on skills. If something breaks, odds are I can figure out how to fix it. If something needs to be built, odds are I can build it.

    3) My parents. They raised me to think independently, be self sufficient and to prepare for rainy days. Thanks to this, we have food in the pantry, some money in the bank and toilet paper on the shelf.

    4) The fact that I have a well equipped home gym in my basement. Even with the lousy weather and the semi-lockdown BS we deal with, I can still exercise and remain healthy.

    5) My health. I've always been healthy, only getting a cold once a year or so. I haven't had the flu since I was a child. I could lose a few pounds but I'm young, strong and have a solid immune system.

Really cool post to see. Big props to the OP on this one.

I feel super blessed to be able to hang with my girls 2 + the wife. I also am super grateful we all have our health and are staying sane. Don’t have any work because I do events and concerts for a living but that’s ok I work 100hrs a week normally so always able to stash some $$ away. This ain’t that bad I have power food my home and hot water. So much better then the weeks after a major hurricane which suck ass.

Great idea for a thread...all good stuff here.

I'm very blessed and thankful for:
    1. Our health. I'm pretty sure my son and I (maybe all four of us) had covid, but very mild cases. Who knows for sure, but even if it wasn't covid, I'm glad it was mild enough to keep us out of chaos. My extended family is all healthy too, which is amazing.
    2. Our jobs. My employer has all the reasons it needs to let people go and they're being very controlled about it. They're also not very keen on working remote and have "unlocked those doors" without reservation. My wife works remote and has been getting more work than normal, which is great.
    3. Our kids. They're adapting very well to all of this. I still need to work on spending more time with them each day, but overall it's going great. I try to keep them laughing so we can laugh about all of this for the rest of our lives.
    4. That my wife and I are on the same team when it comes to being prepared for emergencies. Having more than a few days supply of food and "stuffs" in the house really has kept the mental stress to a minimum so far. The kids see it too, which I'm thankful for....hopefully they'll learn from it.
    5. Very happy to see the general population is not getting wound up and caught up in the DC politics. Not trying to get political here; just glad everyone seems to be staying more calm and collected than anything coming out of our capital right now.

Thanks for answering up, y’all! It’s cool that when we narrow it down to top values, we have a lot in common. :)

I didn’t mention but maybe should have, we’re eating even better than usual! If we get sick, at least I’ll be well fattened-up to fight through it! :p

I’m making my first-ever eel sauce. To go on sushi rolls I’ll make here at home. Night 1 of my son’s birthday celebration:5359DFFC-A2EF-4D2D-B6E0-DC6C1897A097.jpg

I am thankful to have all the blessings that would make something like the inconvenience having to stay home seem like it is worth bitching about.

-The technology to stay in contact with people.

-Enough income to have been able to save, in case work gets tight, but until then it's enough to help others and buy fun stuff for the Tundra.

-My dog. She has gotten me through all the hardest things in life, and now is no different.

-This community. Even if we disagree, argue, or get mad at each other we are still here for info, support, and even help in crappy situations.

Bumping the gratitude. Judging from the way another thread is going, a little bit of silver lining can’t hurt.

Probably not interesting to any but me, but home-made sushi was a good experience— definitely not as pretty as we’re accustomed to out in the world, but a couple of our attempts looked okay:5F728625-D5B6-4F9D-AE88-5B0408B791BC.jpgFC57A59E-12ED-4EC5-9511-0CA6B79E51CB.jpg

If I dwell on it, I can find lots of reasons not to be grateful right now. My wife has not worked in 4 weeks and can't claim EI. My youngest brother had to put his dog down this week. My wife and I haven't been able to sing in our church choir for almost a month and Holy Week is one of our favourite times of the year to do that. No family dinners or get togethers for much longer than is normal for us. I have a car I'd like to sell sitting in the garage costing me money.

    However, I am grateful for:
My loving wife and the fact that she's about 3 months pregnant
    Our health
Our dog (despite his health problems)
    Our home
The fact that the rest of our family is either still working or has some kind of income
The support we get from our family and our church
We have ample ways to pass the time and stay connected with the outside world.
And probably some others I'm forgetting.

Yup, that’s the silver lining stuff I’ve been thinking about. My yard was flooding when I first posted this thread, and my other half has asthma and I’m essential— working in high-exposure situations, so I’m always anxious these days.

BUT the water didn’t get in our house. And the rain has stopped for today. And, so far, we’re all healthy. Also, my kid has not left our small property for 3 WEEKS :eek2:, but hasn’t complained. So I know we’re blessed, as you are! :amen:

I'm thankful for the promises made, and the assurance that my younger brother, who died at the age of 69 two weeks ago yesterday, is forever now at peace and eternal happiness. Thankful to be in a state where there is still some semblance of sanity, where I am still allowed to travel 250 miles from my own home to help my sister in law with the myriad of details that follow the death of a spouse. It is from her house that I write this. Tim didn't die of the Covid-19, just happened at the same time as all this present madness.

Doubly thankful that all my kids are all still working, that God has provided us all with our every need. I pray that this country survives and rebounds not only stronger than ever before, but also more faithful to Him.
