Right now I am looking at tires and maybe running boards.
I just got rid of a 2000 Wrangler so I am kind of taking it easy on too many mods. With the Jeep one mod led to another and costs way more than I expected.

If I could get bigger tires with the stock rims (18") I'd be happy for now.
My mechanic is trying to talk me intoa leveling kit but I am not sure.

I know what you mean! I see it everyday at work with Jeeps. Once you get going on one it consumes you (wallet) lol! If you want something straightforward; i'd say keep the 18's and run some 285 65 18's and a level kit of some sort. If you have relatively high miles on it; Bilstein 5100 all the way around is a great way to freshen everything up. Levels up the front and you get the same comfort/sportiness in the rear

Do you have to do the level kit to fit those tires or is it optional?

Its fairly close but you'll get quite a bit of rubbing if you don't level it

So just the blitsteins or do I need the level kit too? It's got 116k in it but it rides really nice. I hate replacing things that aren't broken.

Well the Bilsteins offer a level ring on the strut itself. The mileage is right in line where its usually beneficial to change it out. You can do just a spacer on the factory setup but to save you from having to pay labor twice plus alignments or physically having to dig back in to the front end later down the road to swap out struts; that's why the majority favors putting new struts that have the ability to level the truck in there.

Welcome Jason. What Tommy ^^^^ didn't mention in his good advise is that the Bilstein 5100s are really affordable and on the top setting, level your truck nicely.
