Finally got rid of the factory window piller black vinyl. I think it looks a lot cleaner... Plus that vinyl gets really ugly over the years. Super easy and free mod just to start off with:wink:

How hard was it to get the black panels off?

Like pulling off a band aid:eek2: jk

It wasn't hard at all. I read that I would have needed a heat gun, the only thing I had was my wife's hair dryer. I went ahead and tried to pull it off with just peeling at the top edge at first. It came right off with just a bit of straight down force without the need of the hair dryer "heat gun". I was able to pull it off all in one piece. I think it gives the truck a cleaner look.... Plus that vinyl looks like crap after a few years. Good luck, hope this bit of info helps:thumbsup:

Was there any adhesive left to deal with?

Very little almost nothing to tell you the truth. But I used a little bit of cooking oil and a micro fiber cloth to remove it. I didn't have any "Goo Gone" at hand. It wasn't hard to remove any left over adhesive but there won't be much to remove once the vinyl comes off.

I'm guessing the factory color and paint is under the panels?

I’m going to go against the grain here and say I prefer the black between the windows. It adds to the lines of the truck very well.

And easy to peel and replace should that be your style. Any PPF installer can replicate those pieces nicely

How about where the vinyl goes under the window seals? It also wraps around the door, was it hard taking it off in one piece?

I agree. For some reason the white pillars makes it look like a GM to me. I love the black pillars with tinted windows.

Not my truck though, just my opinion. :)

Just go slow when pulling around that edge. Mine came off without any problems. If you happen to get some vinyl stuck under the window sill trim. You can pull the window sill trim right off, they are held in place with a tab. You can just pop it back when done. There are YouTube videos showing how to remove it. Good luck bro:cool:

Nice looking truck by the way:thumbsup:

Mine looks like shit. I may have to try this. I’m guessing the replacement vinyl is pretty easy to come by just in case I don’t like it.

Those look pretty damn good. Are they panels or just a vinyl overlay.

They're overlays that just cling-on with no glue. I'm surprised at how well they adhere to the surface.

After a good bit of searching/researching (wasn't paying $119.00 E-Bay price!) I finally bought them from RVinyl, the # for my 2010 was PT-CUS-164. At the time, they shipped for $ 30.00 and change.

Thanks! I’ll check out RVinyl. I like the idea of them not using an adhesive to attach to the vehicle

Sure thing! I've messed with it a little over the years and it lifts right off when needed.

Did you order all the extras that they “recommend” such as the squeegee and prep liquids?

also, did you just apply it over the existing vinyl? Thanks again!

Didn't get the extras,I always have alcohol and plastic applicators laying around. Went right over existing vinyl. It was a nice hot day when I did it. There's not as much to it as applying the thinner vinyl wrap, you'll see what I mean:thumbsup:
