When do you know if leaf springs need to be changed?

I have 2008 Tundra and still with the stock leaf springs. When should replace them? And if I should replace them with which knea qith6out braking the bank?

 

well you got 12 years out of them if you don't want to break the bank get the same ones from someone getting rid of their oem and do the Icon add a leaf + aftermarket shackles. That will get you probably 1 to 1.5" lift as well.

 

Post a pic. Are they flat or is the arch reversed? Do you have bigger tires than stock? Tow a lot? Live in an area that gets a lot of rod salt? 12 years is a long time, but they can last if you haven’t been hard on them. Might be cheaper to get airbags to help take some pressure off the leafs.

 

My '07 needed new springs... I replaced them with a set of Alcan leaf packs.

 

I already have a shackle lift. Can I still add a add a leaf or not?

 

The arch to me seems real minimal. I dont tow much. I live in central cali. Good weather.i have stock 275 65 18 with 6112s in front and 5160 with rear coachbuilder shackels 1.5 inch lift

 

I have stock leafs if you want them they are all yours from a 14 when I put my icons on. But urs look better then mine lol

yes I think you can still add a leaf. It will lift the rear a bit more so take that into consideration.

 

Yours look good to me. They don’t have that negative arch like Rex Kramer posted earlier.

 

Well here is my 07 still waiting for new springs from Alcan with 1,000 more load capacity, and have the Coachbuilder 1" shackles already here. I'm the second owner, previous owner never towed, (I just took rubber plug out for first time, what a bitch,) and never carried a large load, and has 116,000 now. If all Tundras don't have this problem, then must of been a bad production line of springs for awhile.

 

How long was your wait from Alcan? They say like a month to make. I will say price comparison, you can buy ones already made, but not much more for custom. Shackles too.....$40 dollars more than stock, I have BEAST shackles.

 

I waited about 3 weeks for my custom set of Alcans to arrive. I used the shackles that were included with my SOS lowering kit.

 

I waited about a month for my Alcan Springs. They are well worth the weight pun intended. Added some CB +1 shackles too.

 

Nice shackles as well, sure better than stock. Thanks for pics, can't wait. They are still working amidst the pandemic, thumbs up to that.
