I was told gas mileage would be crap with this truck. On my ‘13 F150 (5.0, extended cab 4WD), driving it like grandma was in the backseat with an open pot of beans, I was getting 15.9, absolute best.

With my ‘20 CrewMax, and a split of about 25% driving it like I stole it and 75% cruising/around town, I’m getting 16.2 or 16.3 easily. I’m pretty stoked!

Still won't matter, because the F150 hand-calculated #'s were less as well. :D

Yep, attached. Granted, it's got a whopping 1002 miles or so on it; but brand new, my F150 was right around the same point.

I also recognize this is the tank average; I've had 2 tanks so far and both were right around the same.

You should probably ask the dealer to check for a recall.

Seems like the AVG MPG sensor isn’t calibrated.

    It’s about +4

I think Californians care a bit more , fuel is down but we are still paying $2.60-$2.80 per gallon . But let’s all be honest.... we didn’t buy Tundra’s for good MPG.!

Truth - although at $1.43/gal here, I'm not too upset about gas or gas mileage. :D

I wasn't worried at all, honestly. I just thought it was funny that as many other people who said "MPGs are crap" they're no worse than the truck I traded in that was supposed to get better MPGs. :)

And it's one hell of a lot more reliable/tougher. :)

Where does this come from? If your running stock tires the computer is very close to the actual mpg.

TFL did a mpg loop pulling a trailer but doesn't matter for the calculation.

Nearly all vehicles I've personally owned have always boasted higher then actual MPGs on the DIC...I know I am an anomaly being supercharged, but I regularly am a minimum of 5MPG less than my DIC is indicating...My Duramax was about 3MPG less than the DIC showed...My 4th Gen V8 4runner is 3MPG less than indicating and my Audi S8 is about 4MPG less than the Digital Information Center is stating...I'm not making it up, just suggesting, like so many have, that hand calculating numbers is far more accurate than solely relying on the DIC...I realize it's to be "close" and not exact, but I am far from close in all the vehicles I've owned and currently own...no worries, oil is cheap, fuel is cheap, and life is good in the Tundra!

I've personally done the hand calculation using the same method as TFL and my results were the same. Most differences are the result of not factoring in a different tire size, not using the same pump, calculation errors or environment conditions.

Sure...I use Fuelly.com to aide in my tracking and visualizing the trends...I am rocking 265/70/18 tires...essentially one size up form OEM on my version of truck...that's essentially 3.2% more diameter...I too use the correct calculators but being SC'd the computer fails to read proper...all-in-all, "close" works for some, but for my own entertainment, the hand-calculating use in-lieu of reliance on the DIC gives me a better understanding...different folks with different strokes...all is good...happy Friday Ruggybuggy!

There are just too many variables in your setup to expect the computer to accurately calculate you mpg. Have a good Friday HulkSmurf14.
