What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I was reading up on another thread here on the forum called Things your tundra does that you didn't know. Fairly interesting read for the 3rd genners. I was on page 4 or 5, and read something about footwell lights because some of the 3rd-ers were unaware that they had footwell lights. This got me thinking of a project in the future.

Since I work nights almost every day of the year I could potentially put led strips under the front, and rear trim of my front seats for floor lighting. I carry tools in the floorboards every so often, and always end up using a flashlight. My center cab light doesn't really want to shine down in those crevices behind the front seats in the shadow of the center console kinda area.

I was thinking a style similar to the ones @Professional Hand Model used for his door lights. Not sure where I would tie in for the passenger side though. It will require thinkering.

Let me know what you guys think of this idea.

Removed the old worn out factory shocks and replaced with new Ranch Quicklift units.
Also bought some new headlight housings to replace the faded and yellowing factory units.

 

Do you have before and after pics for comparison?

 

Drivers side door panel leaves much to be desired, and is thread bare under the switches. It has years of me resting my leg there in work Jean's that are very starchy and rough. Any thoughts on cleaning, or is it time for replacement?

Passenger side I think is fine, with the exception of a few spots on the cloth.

If anyone sees anything that desperately needs cleaning attention. Please point it out to me.

(Its fine compared to drivers door.)

I checked this thread earlier, and most of your photos didn't load on my company laptop. They load just fine on my phone.

You can go to another thread, and "Quote" it, go to the reply box, copy all the contents, and paste it anywhere on the site and it'll quote it.

Not sure why the photos aren't loading properly. They're full-size photos, so maybe slow internet?

 

Also, to all on this thread. I apologize for blowing the thread up every night. I realize I post a lot, and have very little content to add.

I see this forum, and especially this thread as a very positive, informative place. It keeps me from falling back into some of the ways, and places I used to roam on the interwebs.

If it's an issue for any of you all even if it's just one I'll limit my postings.

 

Possibly. I recently figured out you could change text color on here. So if that explains why I never assumed you could quote other threads...

I can figure anything out, but am not technologically inclined.

 

They will settle about 0.25 to 0.5 inch most likely...mine did after a few drives and some bumps.

Got and DIY tricks to doing u-joints? I've been using the BFH method and it gets real old when the joints are 20+ years old.

 

I've always rented the press, set up it, put some tension on the joints, then hit it it with a hammer.

As of late though a family member works at a heavy truck shop specializing in driveshafts so I drop it off and let him do it

Ain’t done a dang thing to the Tundra today. Started simply to change oil, plugs and what not on the Husky but gorgeous wx caused me to go just a little further. If it ain’t nailed down, it gets a bath !

 

Thank you to both! It's hard working nights, and having few people to talk to. This thread especially makes it easier.

Check this out! This is what appears to be a 2010-ish Chevy 1500 modified into a hearse! I'll try to get more pictures on my way home from work today. I know where it "stays," or lives for normal people.

replacement is likely the easiest route.. im still trying to find some damn screws to use to put mine back together.. need really short small threads with a BIG washer.

That is my brother's Jeep. He and a friend built it about 16 years ago. It's a 1994 Jeep ZJ original 5 speed,Tera Low, Dana 44 in the back and a Dana 35 in front both stuffed with 4:56 gears and ARBS front and back. The bumpers, roof rack, rock sliders, skid plates and lift were custom made. 37x12.50x15 Irok Super Swampers on allied beadlock wheels. 9,000 lb Warn winch with synthetic rope. All body damge (mainly drivers side) was courtesy of Carnage Canyon V Notch in Buena Vista. The jeep made it to the very end of the trail and snapped a front axle shaft. I was surprised that they even held up that long. Anyhow my brother left the state for work and the jeep sat for almost 8-9 years because of a broken rear axle shaft, the tire was rolling by him down the intersate. He asked if i could fix it so after dropping and cleaning out the gas tank, soldering wires that the squirrels chewed up here she sits. It still needs some work to get the wiring all purty but she runs real good. Just need to get it on the treadmill for emissions.

 

I went to rural king, and replaced torx head with Philip's machine screws with washer, and lock washer so I would not have to change bits anymore.

Machine screws may not be accurate, but I used a Philip's head screw with same thread as torx.

I wish I could find a screw similar to the bolts that hold in the seats. The bolt is made in such a way that the washer doesn't come off of it so you can't lose it. I'm not sure what those types are called.

 

you used that to hold the fabric panel on? once you take it apart you essential break it. but not really.
